So are you a lead dev or a tech lead? Or is it the same?
@darmaine
@darmaine 2 жыл бұрын
Ah, good question! In the consulting company, my level is a lead swe… which translates to tech lead in the client side since I don’t do people mgmnt. In my context, they’re the same 🤣 But it’s basically the lead role below engineering manager and solution architect 🤣🤣

Thanks for explaining the specific differences between lead and senior. How many hours per day would a swe at each level be expected to work in Aus? Thanks in advance

Hello, I'm a software engineer in Brazil. In August of this year, I'm going to Melbourne to study English and work. Do you have any tips on how I can get a job in my field? I have three years of experience with full-stack web development using technologies such as PHP, Laravel, Vue, Angular, JavaScript, Node.js, and MySQL. Thank you.

Hi! Do you know if some companies have any training to apply for future positions? I mean, i´m a mechatronics engineer and i would like to work in software in melbourne, so i would like to know if you know any way to start as a junior in your industry.

Noticed the hair cut.. looks fab!! Also noticed what were you watching on Tik Tok 😉 haha But on a serious note, a leadership role does come with a lot of responsibilities and I know you will smash it all. Keep growing and inspiring everyone around you♥️

What were your struggles? And how did you handle it? I just receive my associates. I changed my major from nursing to computer science. I am not very good at math but I am willing to take the extra mile to do good.

Love your perseverance and that's really good to hear! There were different struggles at every stage of my career. My most recent video about being a woman in tech is what I dealt with in the last 2 years or so. When I was in uni, I would sometimes struggle with understanding some programming concepts (Data Structures and Algorithms was the worst! The paper literally made me cry). But I got through it by having a good circle of Uni friends that extend out of the usual friend group... basically everyone in our major ended up helping each other out with assignments and whatnot 😊

This was a really insightful video and helped me make a career decision! Just one question, are these number of meetings normal every single day or just one day in the week?
@darmaine
@darmaine 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! 💕 it’s usually 1-2 meetings excluding standup. But expect a lot of the impromptu ones as well. As a lead, any tech or non-tech question, you’re usually the go-to. Not to say it’s bad - it’s actually quite rewarding ☺️

Nice video. I've been running from becoming a lead for years, but the walls are closing in on me.... More meetings, less code :(
@darmaine
@darmaine 2 жыл бұрын
Aww thank youu 💕💕 And yeah, I was the same in the last 4 years. Finally caved in 🤣 It's actually not _that_ bad. Less code but also how you make of it 😉 I've been a pro at time blocking to ensure I get at least 2hours of coding per day! Don't pass up on the opportunity - you got this!
