SMRs like BWRX300 or GE Hitachi or Rolls Royce proposals. 25gw fossil fueled generation in Australia. So 80 SMRs and as electricity demand expands up to 5times then 400 SMRs. We can not even keep the trains running on time. FMD. The grid capacity would need to be 5times bigger. The existing national power grid is fragile and took 100years to build and national wealth. So highly paid and qualified operators working 3 shifts a day 7days, 365days a year. The alternative is for my street is 30 homes with rooftop solar 6.6kw, 1mwh daily. In my little street there are 30 houses and 60 vehicles. We have a major generation capacity in this little street. We have a pole transformer and 11,000 volt supply above our 240volt domestic supply on the street power poles. One home has a 17kw rooftop solar system, another has a 10kw system, and most have 6.6kw systems. So this one street generates 1Mw daily. If the vehicles are EV with a big 100Kwh battery, then the street has 6Mwh storage daily. And if V2G, this street can supply 3 times more homes and their EVs. The existing grid is UNLOADED and protected. No horrendously expensive national transmission grid capacity expansion.
