Hi Ayimoni! I loved watching this video! I'm hoping to go into nursing school next year and It's my dream to work in the NICU...I was wondering if many schools have a NICU clinical or does it depend on where you go?

It definitely depends on what hospitals the school you attend currently agrees to allow their current nurses to be preceptors at the time you are planning to attend the school. Plus, not every hospital has a fully functioning large NICU department with all 4 levels of care offered. So if you are sure that you want to work in a full NICU that trains nurses to care for babies in all levels, then be sure to double check that your school has a current contract to place at least a certain number of students in preceptorships in a full NICU nearby, so you at least have a chance of selected to complete you senior practicum in that NICU. Just be aware that there may not be enough spots for everyone that wants NICU by your senior semester, so you may have to settle for another unit. However, my daughter has no NICU in the hospitals near her college, but she still got hired into a top rated huge NiCU new grad residency program before she even graduated in the spring of 2022. So you can still apply to any NICU nursing positions no matter which department you do your senior practicum in, as long as that hospital is willing to hire new grads for the NICU. There could be some who are so well staffed that they feel they can get by with only hiring nurses with some experience in other specialties. So you must do your research as always when making important life decisions.
