Hello everyone! Today we bring you a vlog-kind of video of Sebastian and what he gets up to during the day. This video gives a pretty good idea of what a Russian Blue boy is like, however this is just from our perspective.

The Russian Blue that lived with was the sweetest cat that I ever had. He followed me around where ever I went at home. Met me at the garage door when I came home from work. Chirped when he asked for food. Snuggled with me in a big chair. He passed away at 17 just last October. Miss him so much!

Same the Russian blue i had was the most loyal little guy you could ask for he was adorable, followed you everywhere would sit and wait for you to get off work then quiet head boops for dinner cuddles and snuggles, he lived to 20 or so long for a cat but rest his soul he was such a pal.

...my late wife & I adopted a stray Russian Blue mix (I suspect angora - he had long hair) he was the sweetest also - we adopted 7 strays - all were sweet to some extent, but 'Snugglebug' as my wife called him was just that...a snuggler...he followed me around, slept on my chest at night - rubbed his little putty nose against mine and would jump on my lap while I was on the can - yeah, them claws were sharp...I lost him early this year - he was prolly close to 17 also...I miss the hell out of him...

I just got a Russian blue kitten! He is already so sweet and cuddly, which I was surprised about. He makes almost no noise and its hilarious when I see him sneak up on me out of the corner of my eye. He’s literally so playful and spends all day sprinting around the house. I love him a lot!

Squirrels my boy is half siamese talks constantly! My daughters late blue was quiet! So is my boy a talker due to his siamese heritage? Or can we get blues to talk more by encouraging it?

Sasha sneaks up on us and attacks us too 😂. And only meows to say hi or when I'm in the kitchen because I play with her with her favorite toy, a long piece of cloth on a short pole (cat toy), while my food is in the microwave. She loves any toy she can chase.

russian blue are probably the most elegant looking cats i've ever seen. except for bengal cats maybe. but russian blues are beautiful. they have beautiful faces and such intelligent eyes.

I also have a Russian blue cat and she's a nice companion. I work overtime often and can be away from home for entire days but she is always at home to welcome us. She's clean and not savage. She will sleep with us at all costs though. We once had made her a basket but she prefers our bed so we let her use it as she sees fit. At least that breed doesn't shed as much as cats usually do.

Thats great to hear she is able to deal with your work schedule. Thats one reason I would like to rehome some RB's at least two litter mates as I to work long hours and away from home 12-14 hours a day sometimes. So I would want two to keep each other company. Can I ask if you use some type of auto feeder for her? I'm looking into one I can put on a timer so they'll have feedings on a schedule. Thanks, and I wish you and your girl many years together.

I have had a Russian Blue. They are the prettiest, and so much personality 😅 bossy, and demanding . Everything has to be their way , but they are adorable ohh and little bit crazy and unpredictable. People were mocking me that the cat is just like her owner lol 😂

Bossy and demanding is a good description. Our Sasha is that way too. She wants pets when she wants them. And play with you when she wants to. Same with cuddling and being held. But otherwise she's a total sweetheart.

My fiancée and I also have a male Russian Blue named Smokey. He is EXTREMELY SIMILAR in almost EVERYTHING he does!!! Its hilarious to see the way they act but damn do they love to wake you up because if their 'internal clock' that knows when its the morning, time to eat, etc... They are a very unique breed. I've had many different cats and he is definitely one of the most vocal for sure. Loves to be a 'chatterbox' whenever he gets the opportunity. He also HATES when you're having a conversation with someone else. He will meow loudly and try to 'talk over you/ interrupt you. If he thinks he's being ignored he gets bossy, louder and louder LOL. He's a real trip to own and take care of. Thanks for sharing. Gave my fiancée and I some laughs! 👍😁😆😂

Funny you named your cat Smokey. When Sasha first came to us we thought she was a boy so we named her Smokey. A week later we got her spayed and the vet told us she's not a he. He's a she. When we called her Smokey she wouldn't answer to it. When we called her Sasha she answered right away 😂. So I researched her closest breed (she was a stray) so we could give her a name that fit her breed. All researched pointed to a Russian Blue mix. My daughter wanted to give her an S name. We said "Sasha" at the same time.

We have a two-month old Russian Blue...got him as a playmate for his fifteen-month old uncle, a Russian White. These guys became best buddies immediately. Great breeds!

Good to know. They’ll usually get along with a kitten. I’ve never seen a Russian White. Even with the best human attention and love they do become lonely and bored with their toys…often need a non human playmate

I’m getting my first ever cat (Russian blue) in a month and I’m terrified of doing something wrong, not cat proofing the flat right, playing or feeding wrong, that it gets out, what about vacations, what if it doesn’t get along with my moms dog. Sebastien needs a cat tree. He needs to expand some energy. They love to be high up. Also very important that they’re stimulated. I know easier said than done. A window perch maybe …to check on the outside world. Poor mamma tries so hard to please him. I know …Sebastien needs a pet. Unless it’s a kitten most cats will become protective of their territory and that includes their humans. Beautiful cat.

October last year a Russian Blue mix 4 month old stray kitten walked in our apartment when my daughter came home from work. She hasn't left since. A week after she adopted us we got her spayed, shots and dewormed. She is a total sweetheart. Except she rarely likes to be held or cuddled. But she says she loves us in various other ways. She follows us every where the apartment. When my daughter is home Sasha hangs out with her. When she isn't Sasha hangs out with me. She is very much loved, happy and healthy. That's Sasha and I in my profile picture. My daughter is Mommy and I am grandma.

I notice the Kickeroo (in giraffe pattern) is an "acceptable" toy in this video. I have an identical one which is a great success with my cat. I also got him one of those IKEA "Duktig" doll beds which are actually a perfect cat bed, once you "customise" it -- in our case, we used double-ended screws to put 4 little pine drawer knobs to make proper bed posts; and a folded towel for a summer mattress, small pet heating pad atop it for winter, -- under the blue-and-white toile fabric bed cover & matching pillow case I sewed so it would coordinate with our furniture. . . . We had to move the bed around before we found the place where he liked it best-- gives a great view of two rooms, plus a window view, so he can watch everything from bed. . . .we have a wood stove; when we light a fire, sometimes we bring his IKEA bed before ( but not too close) to the wood burner, where he can bask in the heat. He REALLY likes this.

My blue stays at my cabinet shop. She likes to get up on the workbench to "supervise" and "help." Knock the glue bottle over. Get glue on her tail. Park herself exactly where l don't want her. When l've had enough down she goes. Russian Blues usually know when it's time to get lost.

My Russian Blue was incredibly "skittish" when people came over---would run and hide under my bed until they left. I learned early on not to be holding her when I answered the door--as she would dig her claws into my arm when she saw someone she didn't know--she would also follow me everywhere I went in the house--and if I was out of her sight for even a short time she would get very upset-I also had a small laser pointer and would use it when we played--and reward her with a treat when she "caught" the light

My cat's name is Iris. She has citrine outer irises in her eyes. She was bought at PetSmart, so I'm not sure how pure she is. Mine likes to stretch out on a box and sleep. I have to brush mine out every couple of days. When she cleans herself, dried saliva gets on her back near her tail. I have to trim my cat's nails. They can tear up wood paneling on corners if they decide to scratch there. She tries to get in the shower sometimes. Always rubs against me when I'm drying with a towel.

My kitten does the same thing and comes on the bed and wakes me up about an hour before I have his automatic feeder set to go off to give him his breakfast in the mornings. How did you train him to sit and give you his paw? I have a 6-month-old Russian Blue kitten, and he gets so hyper and excited when it's time to eat, or if I'm trying to give him a snack, and it's like he just can't focus on anything else but did at that time to learn how to sit or give me his paw. If you don't mind me asking, how did you train Sebastian to do that?

It was a long time ago now and I got my inspiration from other youtubers and their cats, but mostly I remember before putting the plate down from the counter for Sebastian to eat that I told him “sit” and gently nudged him back into a sitting position, if you repeat this a few times firmly eventually they understand that once they sit they get what they want. After he got that down I introduced asking for paw after sitting, so after he sat I would say “paw please”and gently take his paw and keep repeating whenever you’re about to feed them. It might be easier to start with a snack if your kitty enjoys them as it can be a bit of a fun game to get the reward. I hope this helps!

My baby is half siamese half Russian blue! He's very vocal and facial lyrics looks more like a siamese with mostly blue coloring though white is sprinkled throughout! He's very smart outgoing not timid like a blue! He has very bad health as a mean old woman forced him to be a preemie and tried killing him and his siblings for the first 6 wks of their lives! Unfortunately he has severe asthma!however he is the best cat ever and I hope he lives long!

I beg to differ on that one. I went to a rescue near me in Pa and found this sweet little gray kitten. We paid like 400.00 for him. He was indeed a blue Russian. 18 beautiful years with him til April 1 2021. The Vet said he had cancer. I miss him so much. He really was my buddy. So much love and sweetness.

Haha, you are right, I was thinking the same thing: under a lot of russian blue videos you can find comments from people who allegedly found their RB on the street. I also think that this is rather unlikely. Here where I live you see absolutely zero pedigree cats on the street or in the shelter, for a good reason: they cost a lot of money.

Do you brush Sebastian's teeth occasionally? I started doing this when my cat my just a kitten so that she got used to it. Even if it was just for a few minutes at least I got some of the plaque off her teeth. I also purchased anti-whisker bowls for food and water. If a cat tries to eat in some bowls their whiskers can be irritated and it won't take in as much food/water as it should.

@@jenjay0167 From a reputable breeder its likely to be over 1.5k to 2k. Anything less is suspicious, and anything less than 1k is probably a kitten mill and should be avoided at all costs.

@@jenjay0167 Few other things you or anyone else should look out for when adopting from a breeder. TLDR: Check cat fanciers association for general prices, wait times are typically greater than 6 months, request live footage of their place, be prepared to be raked over the coals to see if you are suitable. First for Russian Blues 1.5k is typically the lowest you will ever see, however they can go substantially higher than 2k depending pedigree certifications. I personally got 2 pedigree ones for 3.5k each, 6k for both (many breeders will give you a discount for getting multiple). This is just for Russian Blues, I recommend checking breeders on the cat fanciers association website to get an idea for other breeds (even if you don’t buy from one of them). Second is wait times. Right now, especially with COVID; wait times seem to range from 6 months to 18 or even 24 months due to high demand. If any breeder says they can get you one in anything significantly less than 6 months is probably a mill so walk away. Finally, under normal circumstances I would say go to the breeder and check them out, however due to COVID that probably won’t be happening. The next best thing would have a FaceTime call where you can see everywhere the kittens would have been. Don’t rely on pictures or videos they send you (can be faked). One more thing, breeders will do everything to make sure you are a suitable adopter; including things like applications, multiple interviews, and requesting to see your place. I hope that this is helpful to any would be adopter. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. :)

Hi, just came across your site. Wonderful! I think Sebastian is a typically cheeky SB puss! I had a beautiful SB for 19 years (I named her 'Misty Blue' after a jazz song, and the fact that she was an SB). I didn't teach her to give me her paw, but I did teach her to press the 'space' bar on my pc when she sat on my lap when I was working at my desk! They are very clever animals. Misty had very similar behaviors as Sebastian, but perhaps a little less demanding about food time! :)

I have a new Russian blue kitten she's 3 months. I hate leaving her for work! She eats a lot and climbs up my curtains even though i have toys, and a tree for her! She also insists on trying to eat my food too which is annoying! Does Sebastian go out on his own or with harness?
