Its called "good management". Having a card or an Rfid tag working depends on you having done a good job with the installation of the different cells, know what you're doing and that you test the tags before deployment. Its quite standard assuming your boss payed for a proper version of the security system.

I sure hope drives where all SSD based on the unit rolled out. Funny enough Yahoo back in the day moving servers across a parking lot lost lots of data and drives due to vibrations on the asphalt. I assume it’s all SSD drives but it makes me think of that case.

t's not really a manager position. He doesn't actually manage a team or is in a leadership position. Like many places, the manager is just part of the title to make it sound more impressive but its just a bog standard role within this NOC (and a number of other companies in the UK). He's not an actual manager by any means

best thing to do to get experience is get your ccna, and look for a job as a Jr engineer at a value add reseller. Its fast pace work, but if you stick it out, in one year you will learn more than a guy working 5 years at a single company. Then you can choose to either leave for more money at a company, or do what I did and stay to gain even better knowledge.

I was in the middle of upgrading my Xen Server Orchestra VM to Debian 10 when I heard what sounded like a gun shot. Scared the crap out of me. Thankfully I wasn't at work. I did see the text that said it wasn't a gun shot. Would be interesting to find out what it was though. One can only guess a few things including something heavy falling to the floor.

@Nicolai0901
@Nicolai0901 5 жыл бұрын
Since it is the NOC it actually makes sense for a room like this. They have so many screens on the wall that any light on them would just be bad. And They seem to run around in the Building alot aswell and a datacenter is windowless most of the time
@dunnokki
@dunnokki 5 жыл бұрын
Lighting yes, but even more importantly, security. Compliance with security policy, guidelines and contractual requirements usually prohibits windows in such locations, especially if you have customers in government, financial, healthcare, etc. And ofcourse it's a compact space, so was every monitoring room that ever was. That's efficient (team working) and it's best practice.
