I collected a 6 years old eucalyptus last week and I wonder how much does it take to make new leaves (I cut every thing letting 20cm of the trunk and 20cm of roots)?

Did you use bonsai soil or coarse sand, tied the tree to the pot?, put under shade? the best guideline to observe before easing the tree to the sun is if you see shoots growing as much as 2 to 6 inches long. shoots should appear around 4 weeks and sometimes earlier. the way to check if the tree is still alive is to scratch the trunk with you nails or a knife and see if the cambium is still green. if it is brown and dry then it is dead. wish you the best in your tree.

Im a newbie, I pulled out 3 big trees of bougainvillea , 2 I think are dying, there a couple of shoots that came out but it looks like they are dying . Is there anyway I can resuscitate them to life? One is 5' tall the diameters of their trun are betwwen 4-6 " . thanks hope your response will on time. Thanks

No update so far. It died. That happens in gardening and keeping bonsai. Not everything turns out the way one wants them. Understood.
