1:34 I was a mechanic in the 90's in New Zealand when a couple from Scotland told me they were bringing in one of these, and could I collect it from the Docks after customs cleared it and do its WOF(MOT) and registration. Just as they were craning it off the ship and lowering it to the dock the crane straps slipped, the car tilted, and fell from about one meter onto its right front wheel. The shock twisted the steering to full lock, the shock traveling up the steering column, sheering the ignition lock off, and twisting the wires. This shorted the starter wiring which activated the started motor. The starting action stripped the flywheel ring gear. Back in those days, car imports were not insurable so they had to pay. $5K to replace all the damaged parts. Once it was on the road they found it had horrendous fuel economy.

My ex husband had an XJS. Was great for the 3 days it worked. Was a money pit for the rest of the time. I nearly passed out helping to replace the headlining thanks to the fumes from the adhesive. You couldn’t pay me to have another
