@youreinvalid84933 жыл бұрын
@@NarlaScott what? I'm not the person who made the video. You don't know my dogs breed or if I leave him home alone at all. Either way, you're just so privileged to be in a position where you don't have to leave your dog at home for periods during the day, other people don't have that privilege. You're ignorant if you can't see that. A well trained dog that gets enough exercise has absolutely no problem being at home alone. They just rest or play with toys. It's most definitely not neglect. If you don't have a well rounded or well exercised dog, then you may run into issues where them being alone becomes a problem. If you take care of your dog properly, they have absolutely no problems being home alone. Both your opinion and your "facts" are just wrong.
@youreinvalid84933 жыл бұрын
@@NarlaScott just because that's what one rescue has as a rule doesn't mean it's neglect to be gone longer. Let's just settle on the fact that you don't know this girl or her dog personally. Her dogs could enjoy being alone or at the least be content being home alone (which he obviously is judging from the video). Even if that rule did apply to most dogs, which I genuinely don't believe it does, you don't know her dog at all. You can't just say she's neglecting him having little to no facts.

Your comment does not apply for everyone, I'm an example for that, my parents got a dog in their family home and we took care of her very well and me and my parents were in perfect health, suddenly both my parents got very sick when i was preparing to move abroad for my studies and career. So as my parents fell ill and they couldn't take her to walks or take care of her well. So i was the only one left to take care of her, and i love my dog so so much! Yes! It is hard to manage my studies, my part time job and to take care of my dog. But still i take her to walks regularly, feed her & give her unconditional love and support. I went through so much struggles bringing her abroad from my native country. But she's happy with me now and i make time for my dog no matter how busy i am, so I don't neglect her and take care of her well. And it's not my parent's fault for falling sick.. I've seen in other families, when parents fall sick and there's no one to take care of a pet, they abandon it. But I'd never imagine doing it.

Having a dog, or dogs really makes me extremely disciplined, I am focusing on homework or work, and when I finished school, I would have to take them for a walk and when I studied at night they accompanied, they never leave me alone. I have to get up early and worked till late and take care of their wellbeing including mine and focus on my productivity. I need to save money for their food, toys, shampoos, and vet bills, among many other items. Dogs really transformed me into a better person. Real experience of dog owners since childhood. I finished high school with the top score, finished undergrad with 1st class hons. and made my way through masters and doctoral in very short time. The puppy need all your attention, comfort, exploring that you have to do! But getting a older shelter dog is better if you are busy but remember the dog can NOT be at home for more than 8 hours alone... You should walk it before work/school, when you come home and in the evening so it is a lot of work! Otherwise having a dog is really what gets me through college because it is so rewarding to always have a study companion, you have to get breaks outside etc and I feel so secure because of the dog when I walk alone, it is lot of cuddles and play

You shouldn't. Dogs and any kind of pet is a big responsibility and it's not a choice to take lightly. Better finish college first, is just a few years compared to the life expectancy of a dog. Also getting your first job (that could be in a new city or country) and trying to push a few years in the market before moving to a more comfy salary, going self-employed or doing postgraduate studies it could take up to 2 extra years to find stability. (having a work/life balance) Owning a dog in this circumstances is not a wise choice.
@kempoutzzz5 жыл бұрын
While it's true that pet is a big reponsibility, there are too many dogs get put down every day because no one is adopting them. Please adopt, don't worry about that. It's so much more work than even this vlog showed! Thankfully Dory is full grown now, but puppyhood was even more time dedicated to training and running her energy out. I've been wanting a husky for many years now. I am finally old enough to get my own. However every one keep telling me that I shouldn't get one because they need a lot of exercise. It really pisses me off because that the whole reason I want a husky. It also bothers me because they dont think I know the responsibility it takes, but what they don't know Is I have done research on them for over 6 years. The more people tell me not to the more I want to.
@infamousrae6984 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely try fostering a husky first! At the risk of sounding like 'everyone' I'd have to agree with a lot of the same concerns. Even though you're probably a literary expert on huskies by now, even I was taken aback by the energy level/ stubborness/ recklessness of a young husky, mainly just because they do a lot of damage to you and your home without even knowing. Personally, I couldn't vacuum and sweep my house and run the dog over an hour EVERY DAY, so there's no way I could stay on top of their grooming and exercise needs. But if you have the extra 3-5 hours a day to clean after, exercise, and train one, go for it! Only you can truly gauge what you're ready for :)

Chloe Bartz I was fortunate enough to have parents who agreed to split rent as long as I was working a min. of 18 hrs a week as a full-time student! If you have to pay $1,000+ out of pocket for rent, and work a min wage job, I really wouldn’t advise a dog of this size. It will impact where you can live for the next 10+ years. Dory belongs to both myself and my boyfriend who lived long-distance, but I knew once I was done with school we’d be able to split responsibilities 50/50 when we moved back in together. Your dog is probably barking BECAUSE your parents are home. Whenever my dog is left in her crate with people over or I’m home and just need to get some housework done, she cries because she knows she’s being left out. You need to start crate training young to get them comfortable with it, and don’t reward them with attention or being let out of the crate if they start throwing a tantrum

How do you trust your dog to run off leash like that?
@infamousrae6986 жыл бұрын
Nearly a year of recall training, with 3-4 months using a long line leash before allowing her to be fully off leash! I'm still incredibly selective of the places I let her have free range, and if there are other dogs walking around the park we usually stick with a long line leash :)

@@duckgamer8213 First of all, I keep in him in a cage when necessary, like when he's doing bad things, or when I'm not home. And second of all, whether I keep him in a cage or not, it doesn't concern you at all. And I'm not a cruel person for putting my dog in a cage. You don't know his personality, so you wouldn't even know why I put him in a cage sometimes.

I’m thinking of getting a dog but Work full time - I’m planning on coming home at lunch time to take it out for about 20/30 mins. Then back to work and then take him out again once I’m home. Is that enough?
@alexandradevilgore9745 жыл бұрын
If you work full time it's hard to take care properly of a dog. Condiser wisely maybe, but if you can, then go!
@hariboproductions5 жыл бұрын
Alexandra Devilgore yeah it will be hard but I do think I can do it. Thanks

I reeeeeally wouldn’t advise leaving a dog in the crate for more than 4-5 hours a day, especially for a new animal who is going to need lots of training and attention to thrive off an established routine. I know there’s an appeal to the comfort and company of a pet dog, but if you would be miserable locked up for an entire day, so would they :/

That’s why I have to take her on so many outside walks 😂 if you can’t walk your dog at least 45 mins a day with outdoor potty breaks every 2-4 hours, you shouldn’t get a dog

Rose Osafo yes she does her business during our morning walk, she’s walked again between going to class and work (not filmed), and her energy is taken care of with our nightly run! I adopted Dory as an adult dog so she was already potty trained when I got her
