FAQ
Q: What are you doing in Poland?
A: I'm a preschool English teacher and adult conversational English teacher.
Q: Why Poland?
A: No idea. For real though, I wanted to move to Europe after graduating university, and teaching English was my best option to get a visa. Poland is one of the countries in Europe with the highest demand for English teachers, and it just worked out!

Fun Fact: This name from the 3rd minute of the film - "Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz, Powiat Łękołody", is something like a meme from an old Polish comedy, in which the main character using this name trolls a German officer who tries to write down his data. :D

Wawel of course - if you can tour it, do. Also, just the old town in general... But there's also one interesting but very non-Polish place: the Manggha museum. A piece of Japan in Poland, great tea and sushi, also the place where I proposed to my wife. ;-) And don't forget to look in the corners - there are some very nice places hidden from the main streets.

When you reach that point where you can actually have a conversation in polish, you should be proud of yourself. In my book it gives you 100% pardon to brag about it too. Learning the hardest language in the world as an American is a huge challenge.

So, can I assume that you are the one who invented Polish language? 🤔 George Carlin once said: _“I could never understand ethnic or national pride, ’cause to me, pride should be reserved for something you achieve or attain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth.”_ Sure, I can understand that for a Pole it might feel nice and heartwarming but the pride is a whole different ball game...
@nataliamach7248
@nataliamach7248 9 ай бұрын
@@tjblues01you don't have to invent a language in order to be proud of it. There's a positive and a negative aspect of pride. As long as your pride is rooted in love for your nation and not hatred of others its all good.

YESS KRAKÓW! I love that city so much. Especially night walks in the old town in the summer or early autumn. Of course, you should keep yourself company when it's especially late and when there's not a lot of people. Oh yes, finally Kraków, my city ;D Places to check out: 1. Main square (rynek główny) 2. Stare Miasto (old Town) 3. Walk by the Wisła (Bulwary) 4. Zakrzówek (especially in summer) 5. Błonia and park Jordana and many more like Forum Przestrzenie, various clubs and pubs, Ogród świateł near Tauron arena, restaurant in Kossak Hotel or Jubilat (especially the terrace area with beautiful landscape. Once you visit it during winter it's worth rediscovering the city in summer time. From Kraków you can travel to Zakopane and hike on Tatra mountains and check Morskie Oko.

Poland has a depression and anxiety problem festering from families, i mean it comes from war, culture preservation and death threats. We don't hide our distain for something, we cuss it out till it will be known everywhere as people unite, and the strongest untity, is poles for their devotion for the country. -by a book.

First of all. YAY! New video! Some of the best content I've seen in a while. Light hearted comedy with a personality with a well deserved, cheerful accomplishment vibe. Emotive and authentic "I did it" joy. It almost lacks a light-bulb overhead whenever you make a breakthrough. Refreshing after so many people trying to fake it for youtube clickbait. Will we ever get to see the 30 min of you conquering our language? Heck, I'd watch that twice. There is no embarrassment in learning. With your personality that would make for great content. It's not like I can take the anglosphere by storm with my language skills and let me tell you - English is not exactly a breeze to learn. :) It's a different linguistic group so the best of us struggle with it. That's the moment where my English fails on intricacies. Not sure how to offer encouragement without being out of line or pushy so consider yourself warmly encouraged and have fun in my little corner of the world :) Cheers

Places to visit; Stare miasto i Rynek, Wawel - Zamek Krolewski (Royal Castle) Kazimierz (old jewish neighborhood) Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory (bit sad but great piece of history from WW2) not far away from Krakow is Wieliczka Salt Mine - Kopalnia Soli - a must see destination if you are in Krakow area. plus many more great places to visit. Milej Zabawy, Pozdrawiam!

Lovely vid Emma! Your polish is getting much better, congrats! When it comes to must visit places in Kraków, as other mentioned before, I would suggest places like: Wawel Castle, MOCAK (museum of modern art), Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology (where you can also eat some delicious food with one of the most beautiful view!), Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art at Sukiennice. Moreover, you should just get lost and discover charming little streets in Kazimierz District, get a coffee and delicious cinnamon or cardamon bun at Cafe Bageri Stockholm, have a drink at Hevre, eat a polish zapiekanka at Okrąglak in the center of Plac Nowy. If you’re into vintage shops and second hands, there are plenty of them at Starowiślna Street. If you need any more recommendations or a local guide (I live near Kraków and studied there for three years), just dm me :)

You probably noticed it already or someone else told you this but when it comes to pronunciation of polish words it gets easier once you realise that every letter in every polish word is pronunced the same, there is no secret way to pronunce it like in english, you litteraly mash the letters together and the only thing you have to have in mind are those double letters like rz, ch, sz, cz etc. The only exception to this rule I can think of is a word marznąć(getting cold) where you don't read rz as ż, I can't think of any other exceptions and I am the native Polish speaker.
@mirekbiek534
@mirekbiek534 2 жыл бұрын
@amjan
@amjan 2 жыл бұрын
@mirekbiek534
@mirekbiek534 2 жыл бұрын
@@amjan no właśnie. :-)

Also has the best ice cream in the world (lodziarnia kolorowa) and a must visit pijalnia (I recommend the Monte wodka). As someone who's failing at learning that stupid language for years: Whenever you stumble over a long word or name, read it in chunks back to front. So for Konstantynopolitanczykowianeczka you start with eczka, then kowianeczka, then czykowianeczka and so on. Helps me all the time. Have a great 2022

In Cracow we have the oldest polish university - Jagiellonian University, Wawel - the castle where our kings lived, The Old Town - where you can see, among others, Saint Mary's Basilica. Also, if you go there on the hour, you will hear Hejnał mariacki (it's a melody played on trumpet and it is never played to the end, it's interrupted - you can see on Wiki why it happens). We have an underground museum under The Old Town. If you want to drink good coffee in a beutiful place, I recommend Massolit Cafe!
