As a Swede, when I first saw this vid about 6 years ago, I was blown away! I had no idea crews like this existed. And now, in a couple of months I will go to Canada to work for a harvest crew who runs 7 Case IH combines. And all thanks to this video which inspired me 6 years ago. Im SOOO excited. Thank you for uploading this video. Johnson Harvesting seems great!

Great video. Especially the last two and half minutes with the trucks pulling combines, and the last song makes me feel lucky i get to climb on a combine every fall for the soybean and corn harvest.

Awesome, I wish everyone knew how much work it is to run a custom harvest business. To maintain all this equipment is a job, but the teamwork of everyone is just awesome. Once in a lifetime experience. P.S. Im a JD man, but those where beautiful Case combines.

Ok, Here is my situation, I am 34 married with a three year old daughter, and I have a decent job, but, I would give almost anything to be able to go and do this for a season. Call me crazy, but the people that still today go and follow the harvest across the USA are still American Heroes!! Seeing these machines and the people who make this all work is beyond impressive!! Here do I sign up??

I had a little experience on one of these harvest runs and I would encourage any young guy with a spirit of adventure to try it out. It helps to have grown up on a farm and have some mechanical aptitude too. The quality of the video here and the background music are absolutely great! Keep up the good work!

During wheat harvest this year i got some FastLine magizines to read while i was waiting on my semi to load and i noticed that you could get a 2000-2002 Case 2188/2388 for 100,000 and down and that included header. they had anywhere from 1000 hours to 2500 hours.

Yeah, I hate it being that way sometimes. You have two or three combines working on one field simultaneously. We are running old Gleaners and they have no air conditioning. It sucks when you get a call or someone walking up to your combine saying that you have one down. You then know you will spend another hour there unless they get it running again.

A little strange for me to see harvest machines being charged with a truck from one working location to the next. Here in Arg, it´s usual to see them just rolling over BY THEIR OWN over the routes (not the highways). Of course, they need a special permission from Fed Authorities to roll on the routes.

Well, I'm not sure how much you can get old ones, nowdays. Even the old ones are pretty reliable. The people my family used to help cut, we would spend a week or two working on them before we start cutting. If you are a mechanic it won't cost you much, but if you have to have someone fix something, ofcoarse it won't be cheap. I didn't get to cut last year, and may not cut this year. Don't use custom cutters though, you will make nothing.

if oil prices risea farmer might do well to consider: not spending money on all those machines, fire all workers, and spend like 15 years trying to harvest 150000 acres as a one man man operation.

Combines are difficult to drive, and it takes more than driving skill to operate one of them suckers out in the field. If you aren't careful you might cost your company, family hundreds of dollars, when you stick a header in the mud and ruin some wheat.

@KilledbiDeath Your post only shows that you have no idea why things are as they are. In general American trucks have been leaders in innovation but in the US there usually also has to be a good reason why to make things more complicated and unreliable. Trucks are often run for millions of miles unlike Europe and at almost twice the speeds. Trucks in the US had air ride much before Europe. Aerodynamic trucks came first in the US and the trucks are also lighter because extensive use of aluminum.
