Corrrr these unlocked memories! Great seeing that Wright Pulsar Gemini 1 and Enviro 400s (fab acceleration and sounds, a nice evolution to the - then - futuristic ALX400s on launch), the Plaxton President (the PVL 390 and its South London siblings were just *chefs kiss* - the bannister design I'm a fan of, and were one of the newest range with new style slide out exit doors), the ALX400s which were so incredibly futuristic when I first went on them in the late 90s with their curved grab bars, vs the Olympians/Titans commonly seen at the time. That ROAR at 3:12 threw me back 24 years 😂) and that Titan! Still gorge to see - did any have those classic jackknife doors on the day? Great vid1

2:41 That Dennis badge looks brand new. I think the badges were usually shown off more on that era of buses

I remember the Plaxton Presidents back in 2006 to 2009.

I used to drive ALX400s when I first started at Norwood 7 years ago. Now look at all the teenybopping hairies clamouring after them! 😱 Anyway, greetings from Heywood where we still drive exiled London diesel buses. Looking forward to this Sunday’s Pennine Bus Rally centred on Halifax, when ‘proper’ buses will be seen on proper scenic routes. 🚌

It's always my guilty pleasure to seek out routes with old buses still running any time I go up north. Especially scenic buses!

I remember the First Capital NOT Tower Transit but First Capital because they were new to First Capital Dennis Dart Marshall DMS's. I remember them on the D8 from back in 2002. They were on the W19 too. The ones on the D8 were single door.

I was there certainly a good variety and a testament to their owners, shame England lost but the buses were a great to have some trips on, definitely need to do next year's.

I mainly liked First Capital's Plaxton Presidents. They were T and V Reg and they were on the 25, N25 and 97 back in 2002.

11:30 I love that sound of the gearbox I’m guessing
@mckenzie4034 ай бұрын
That’s a ZF Ecomat gearbox on a Leyland Olympian. The older buses have a good way to activate kickdown. 😅

I had a lovely day out on a London Bus, 1977: Hendon Depot, Work-To-Rule. Part of the job was 'Route Learning.' (Great days, the long journey from Potters Bar to Heathrow, probably about 10 separate routes now.) Anyway, we all decided to learn the (184/84?) route at the same time; our contribution towards the Work-To-Rule. It was a a scene straight out of a Carry On movie, downstairs there were 4 card tables for the poker tournament, and the bus was full to capacity. No one learnt the route. (BTW: Bus Conductor, best job I ever had.)

7:00 Those buses felt futuristic when new. Also love the Allison gearbox noise.

there's nothing the whiny sound of an Allison gearbox, for sure!

Is that a low(ish) floor, yet front engined bus at 17:05? Between its destination indicator and front grille design it looks like someone smooshed a Routemaster into a rear-engined modern-ish bus. I love it!

I love the 2-story classic london buses (the newer ones look cool too). I wish i could buy a classic london bus and make it into an RV, but i live in sweden so the wheel would be on the wrong side, lol

Some I’ve seen some coaches companies buy and refurbish old double deckers and ex National Express coaches to comply with low emission regulations.

And a Portsmouth Harbour train stopping at Purley? Was that amendment because of the bus event, or you know of a different reason?
@isaactimmins89595 ай бұрын
I believe there was some engineering works on so part of the planning around that.
