Did this walk twice in one week, once through the wooded trail and up the hill to Upper Upham, then in reverse the following week. Great walk, lovely countryside.

I have angina so was hoping I would be able to ride without too many issues, but since getting it I'm out more than I'm in!! What a great bit of kit they are and you can push it as hard or as gently as you want to. Thanks for the inspiration, I wish I'd have done it years ago! Keep safe pal, cheers.

Always appreciate a bit of an adventure...ive come across plenty old settlements in and around the west highlands, some only abandoned in the 1900,s most were clearances ....for sheep ..sad tale...there were lots of thriving communities in the most remote places...it good to hang around all these places i think especially coastal villages everything is still there when you start sussing it out....interesting when you get a feel for a place....PEANWEANACH..ON ARDNISH PENNISULA is my favourite village ..thers was a good free bothy there for years..and it was a bit busy in summer quiet in winter...anyways stayed there regular plenty to explore. Old rigg systems can still be seen ..peat cuttings...the bothy was the postoffice.. school house in next bay... also theres the cut in the sandunes boat shape for dragging the boats to shore for repairs...vikings were there too settling i think...anyways thanks for ride today enjoyed it
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I sure I saw signs for PEANWEANACH recently on my trip to Ardnamurchan lighthouse, its a beautiful part of the world, I didn't know about the abandoned village. Sheep farming was also the reason why Snap dwindled and fell into dilapidation. It was a picture postcard village in the mid 1850's and by 1910 was abandoned. Most of the habitants moved away to the local town of Swindon then just before the first world war the army used Snap as a bombing target for practice

A fascinating trip out, Sandy. Your local knowledge is brilliant, and Snap looks like a wonderful place to check out. I'm an original Slough boy so am well acquainted with Sir John Betjeman. One of my delivery customers in North Norfolk is actually related to him by marriage. When we first met I enquired about her name & she was surprised I'd heard of him. But when she found out about my Slough roots she chuckled & understood. Please keep these little adventures coming my friend, as they're a pleasure to watch

What were you thinking, jumping into a well...!!!!!!!! Not much in the way of bunting, flags or other coronation stuff in any of those lovely villages, same as the rest of the country, a pointless parade for a new hat costing millions!!! Lucky Dave thought to bring a slurpy, bless him. Interesting video guys, cheers.
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
Hi Bry, Just seen a couple of homes with bunting but apart from that nothing. I think a corner was turned when the queen died. The monarchy I believe has down graded it's self. Yes, don't jump into a well. I could see the bottom and it was only 4ft deep and dry but I didn't realise at the time just how dangerous that could have been as not all wells have been backfilled, some were just capped a little way down so the could be recommissioned if needed. I think this well has been properly filled though. Dave saved the day with the Slurpy:)

I don't have an overall favourite. The Eleglide is the nicest to ride on the road and is light and nimble, but it would be no good for off road riding in which case the Cyrusher wins the day. As I do a lot of off road exploring the overall winner in my case would be the Cyrusher
