Thank you Mackenzie for these clips...they are wonderful. We took a couple trips to England (including London) in 1967 and 1968 while my father was in the US Air Force stationed on Crete for 2 years (driving a Chevy Malibu that still had the Texas license plates on it that we had brought over)...I was 11 and 12 years old and have digitized the precious 8mm film he shot at the time...and the Kodachrome slides...almost look like they were shot yesterday. If I had been just a little bit older, I would have been more appreciative of how beautiful the girls were at the time. p.s. - unlike many others here, I like the soundtrack you included...it helps keep the segments lively and moving!

Firstly I must say that this vid is wonderful - thankyou. I was 17/18 when this was filmed & I had been working in St Mary Axe 2 years prior for less than 4GBP per week! Out of which I was paying train fares & money to my Mum. However I did have a lovely Mateus Rose girlfriend & we tried to dress in the lastest gear - usually from C&A. Historically 'times' are always tough for those that do not 'have enough' to meet their desires. I never have been wealthy but have always looked on the bright side with true Hope in the Lord. Please don't be nasty. We can't go back but we can look forward In Faith

Studio one and two cinema in Oxford street (8:57) in background. I grew up in the west end and loved this cinema which always showed Disney produced films. Lyon’s corner house was everywhere and one could get good cheap food. Lots of shopping in Carnaby street too when I later was a teenager. First job was for a company in Oxford Circus. Brings back many happy memories. Thanks for making and posting.

The sixties were a sweeter time than we inhabit now. I've seen stories of people on Bold street in Liverpool suddenly finding themselves in 1967. So the only thing to do in find the vortex opening, have plenty of "vintage money" on hand, and catch the train into London.

@@mackenzierough Thanks for your reply. Would you say maybe that overeating is a way to compensate through the senses for a lack of other less tangible satisfactions? Often if something is obvious and most people agree on it, I automatically suspect it's untrue. Not this time. People overeat to fill their emptiness. Also pollution might be messing with our metabolism up to a point; who knows? And food is very cheap and it tastes better than ever. But it's mostly the inner void. Cheers.

What a beautiful, clean, classy society. No angry bearded ones running about slashing throats. Bobbies could do their jobs. A bygone era never to come again....

I remember visiting London in the late 60s when I was in my early teens & it had a lasting impression on. I remember seeing the hippies playing guitars & my dad said ' look at those long haired layabouts' in jest. 2 years later I grew my hair longer when I left school.

sickpuppy4711 Not entirely. Stuff wasn't cheap but if you saved it was affordable. No average worker had credit cards to buy designer labels at stupid prices or even thought of shopping in high end shops like Chanel! Advertising ramped up to a whole different level every decade, especially now so called celebs flaunt/advertise products on social media that kids think they should have.
