Actually this guy did use his hacking ability for personal gain. You can watch him talk about it on Shawn Ryan. He created a bot net that would mine crypto on the victims computer. He stated that he would only have the crypto miner run when the person wasnt using it so it wasnt hurting anyone blah blah. Thats just what he admits to. Most cyber criminals desire to do what they do for "good". They have this fantasy of getting caught in a super elaborate sting and then working for the CIA. If that doesnt happen, which it doesnt often, they become a vigilante like this. You should respect this man for turning his criminal enterprise into a legitimate business which is what really happened.
@epicswirl13 күн бұрын
There are millions of us that don’t do this because we don’t want to go to prison. Anyone can get publicly available info from leaks and most hackers can break into systems. We just choose not to. It’s like have access to a gun or a weapon and deciding to not kill somebody and to become a cop instead. I’m a hacker and work with other hackers on the daily.
@tsuperuser13 күн бұрын
@ ok good for u bro. My statement stands he did use his ability to hack to hurt innocent people. He should be praised because he turned his criminal enterprise into a legitimate business not because "he does not use he Ability to hack to hurt innocent people". And your comparison of owning a gun and becoming a cop is a good one. Except in his situation it would be more like he owned guns, used them to kill people, hoped to get recruited to be a CIA Assassin, doesn't happen, so starts a legitimate self defense business.

No. If you want a reliable career in cybersecurity you need school mostly to land you that first IT gig that gets you in the door. There are some alternatives such as security research/bug bounty that you can do without school or take the more computer science route and programming security tools. Without school, hardly anybody is going to trust you in a SOC. Get the degree, get your certifications, do side projects/research. The guy in this video showed off things infosec professionals show at elementary schools, there's far more interesting things than a flipper zero.

This is why old school pen and paper is the best. Having copies stored elsewhere is great too. I miss when cash used to be king instead of plastic bank account cards. Everyone’s info is out there, even the hackers that are getting your information. Nobody is safe anymore.

Ryan .... carry that sig that Shawn Ryan gave you. Keep it in a holter on you at all legal times. It may come in handy or it may be like a watch or wallet. Either way its better to have than not.

I studied the same curriculum as this man, but I did not go as far as he has. I hold 2 degrees in computer science; one for engineering and the other for networking security coupled with a minor in digital forensics. I have used the same or similar tools he has deployed in this video, and due to the nature of how easy your information can be stolen I keep as much information offline as possible. Nobody is ever safe 100%, but there are simple steps you can take to prevent your personal data from being stolen.
@arizvisa5 күн бұрын
You can't prevent things from being stolen when the problem is that people other than you are storing information and maintaining the responsibility (heh) for protecting it. The only way is to not provide information that can be combined into something actionable, which is practically impractical these days.

He's a fraud. He's said in other videos "you can get hacked & rooted by visiting a corn site". I actually work in cysec, this Ryan person reeks of skid & fraud.

I'm glad that at age 45, I have never owned a computer...! I own and operate three businesses with zero online presence...!!! My only advertising is word of mouth...! It's the best kind...!!! My lawn service business has a waiting list, again with zero online presence...!!! My tropical fish and plants can't be produced fast enough and I only wholesale to two local fish stores...!!! I just started my Aquarium maintenance company a few months ago, so I've only one client so far... Anyway, my point is, computers are evil...! There's a reason why all of my vehicles were built in the 70s...! You can't go wrong with carburetors and distributors...! Computers don't belong in cars...!!! Thanks for sharing and keep up your awesomeness...!!!
@arizvisa5 күн бұрын
computers aren't evil, it's that all software is terrible due to its complexity and not enough people are complaining about it (or even listening) to make a difference.
