I served an aerial gunner in a US helicopter unit in combat in Iraq. 2 of the best pilots I flew with were women. Not just as pilots, but they were great officers and people. She’s absolutely correct men and women are different. The women I served with couldn’t physically do what the guys did. I’m sure a few could, but not really. I don’t know many women who can carry a pair of .50 caliber machine guns over their shoulders, or drag pallets of ammunition off a helicopter tail ramp. Or carry a litter. I couldn’t manage the myriad of things going on in the cockpit while keeping a calm and sexy radio voice while getting shot at and getting everyone safely home.

Erm, no. Since 1948 as part of the declaration of independence, all citizens (male and female) have been subject to conscription. There are some nuances like Arabs, religion and some small ethnic groups have exclusions and the time is different for women than men...but overall it was law that made this, not action by women. I mean, Pre 1948 about 20% of what would become the IDF was women, so they have always been serious about service. Of course there are issues and some legal cases like Alice Miller who wanted to be a pilot and there are always going to be issues but they are an important part of the national defence, and not many nations have that from women esp in such numbers (About 45%)Just thought I would correct any misconceptions you have.

And years ago, IDF experimented with subjecting women to identical training and training standards as men for infantry training. They stopped that years ago because it was a disastrous waste of time. Women are armed in Israel but armed in areas where they're serving basically as border patrol or closer in, as terrorism deterrent by being armed on buses and on streets. The uniformed young woman on a tourist bus with an assault rifle is in the army (reservist most likely) and as gun would suggest in some kind of technically combat role. However, we would describe it more as an MP role and in special border units as more of a customs and border paramilitary role. IDF, however, has separate ACTUAL combat units of tanks, infantry and artillery that are either entirely male or almost entirely male that would fight actual war with Hamas, Hezbollah, Syrian army, etc. The woman above said she's in a unit that's 70% female. That isn't any kind of main line, first-string assault unit.

I am a thirty year Army/Police veteran now retired some years. These girls really earn my respect as the ladies say “lays her cards on the table”. She is not trying to be a man but a regular effective soldier. The IDF is an outstanding effective military and if the females weren’t up to the task they would not be in the ID F. As a supervisor in the Police I had to be brought around from always having a male and a female in a response car because the females were taking me to task on it, so I adjusted my mindset sent them out as a fully female crew and just accepted if they get filled in so be it same as in the infantry if a girl gets captured or whatever, I would be thinking she is just another soldier in my unit and if I can’t save her and it’s beyond my units capabilities. So be it.

Lot more to soldiering than pulling triggers. You could say the same thing about the .30-06 rounds used by USMC when they landed on Guadalcanal in Aug '42. It's the deprivation of months of combat strain, bad food, bad sleep, weight loss, always on the move with heavy packs, stress.

No, she's in a border patrol function. Of course, in Israel, that's potentially very dangerous. The other key point is that Israel's not as much progressive as practical by having pick up slack where it would burn out their relatively small regular army if they had to do border look out duty. They have to be rested for any serious, large threat. Israel is outnumbered 30:1 and whatever they have to do to offset those odds is unique to their unusual situation, not necessarily any lesson we can learn from. If Israel has 10,000,000 more people, I'd bet there would be few women in their military.

We need correct policy executed in line with existing FEDERAL STATUTES. The regime is allowing what's happening to happen. It has nothing to do with lack of personnel or resolve on the part of those hirelings. For the most part they are used in support roles. It does carry risks but the actual ground combat line units that I have seen were always all male. Given the high number of females in he IDF, I have to assume they are assigned to security and support missions. Although they d roll out the public affairs videos of the al female tank and infantry units from time to time I think the pragmatic concerns are what drive actual utilization for obvious reasons.
