But our kids aren't doing great at the moment with suicide, and drug use. So modernity isn't all that great either.😢

I hope Marys family realizes that she has issues and get her the help and special attention that she needs. Thats one reason I'm sad about them being talen out of school early. The school can identify problems and do testing or intervene to make sure they get the proper resources and skill sets to make it through life.

At the end of the video it says that she achieved 6 GCSE's plus two vocational qualifications. That is not bad at all. I think she has been exaggerating her abscence from school, as travellers look down on a girl attending school. She probably was not as much of a truant as she said she was. And I think it's good that girls can have their princes-for-a-day without getting married, whether it is a school prom or a sweet 16. If they can have their special day by staying in school, instead of leaving school at 11 and getting married early, more girls might choose to do that. It's sticking to their culture but with a little adjustment to modern times. I wouldn't be surprised if the schools and local governments are trying to stimulate it by being be a little more lenient with these girls and their proms. They can't give these girls a diploma if they didn't pass their exams, but they can give them a prom, and hopefully more girls will follow.

If you are a registered traveller or your child is a registered traveller you have the right to take your child out of school when house dwellers wouldn't. I think it comes from the need to travel for work but the rules are bent until they're broken and attendance stops. It is sad, so many missed opportunities 😢

I’m appalled that the school system doesn’t have a curriculum that includes anything about their history and cultures! I just did a quick search and read there’s over 12 different subgroups of Gypsies and to not teach about their rich heritage and culture from elementary to high school is a blatant attempt to erase their history and label them as unimportant, invisible, and not contributing anything to the country’s history. Maybe if the schools acknowledged and respected their culture they could work to develop an educational format and curriculum to provide the children/teens the essentials like reading, writing, mathematics you need in life and not calculus or even parts of algebra! Create a curriculum that’s going to prepare them for success in their culture, in their world! Let the girls learn to do nails, get their cosmetology license, give them options to take sewing/fashion design classes, esthetician classes, baking classes, early childhood education classes, or classes marketing and starting businesses ( because they could make tons of money running cleaning businesses for churches and corporations)

If the objective is to have a party, celebrate coming of age and go all out with the Biggest, most Exotic and Beautiful dresses then check out 15th parties of Spanish girls. They are called ‘Quinceañera’. It’s a coming of age party, there is preparation, a court made up of family/ friends girls and boys. They have choreography, pictures, a dance with the father, she shows of herself, is a special day for the 15th year old girl. … After she gets that out of her system then she and her family can decide a good future husband with out jumping or committing to a marriage just because of a party, a dress!
