It's hard to believe that I've owned this banjo for ten years now and all the music that's been made with it. Here's a closer look at how everything got started. Thank you all so much!
All the best and keep rollin,

What is your favorite song or moment from the last ten years?

There's a video of you backstage at Opry and Bela was apparently also there that night, and so a few of you were jamming on Dear Old Dixie. And the groove was amazing (I mean... it's Bela, what were you expecting), but what people might have missed was that behind Bela was a mirror, so you were visible and we could see your reaction as he played. And you were standing there going total fanboy. It was such a happy and serene moment and it came through in the video. For some reason, that moment sticks with me. It's about respect and the joy of being able to witness something beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Really hoping you will keep up with this series. It's always interesting to know why the greats use the stuff they do. Hope you'll include some stuff about your setup, and whether you use the same setup for all the "Mastertone" style banjos, and how similar they sound as a result etc etc etc. When you tour, why you choose one over another to take. All that nerdy stuff, the more the better!! Please!

Hi Russ, I just discovered your channel and some great videos of yours. Great playing from you and your buddies!! Goldie is a wonderful sounding banjo for sure!! Chris Warner was a huge help to me when I first started playing in the 80's. He built a couple custom banjos for me and did a tremendous job. I still play professionally and Chris will always hold a special place in my heat. I visited his Warner String Works in Hanover, PA many times. I hope he is well and in good health. Looking forward to more videos from you!!

A PA boy playing Gold Stars! I totally relate, bought mine in 86 from Bucks county musical instruments but I had a Warner String Works catalog in the 80s would have bought mine from Chris if he was a little closer, loved the sound of all the Gold Stars in the 80s. Tom Adams GS and your 81 Crowe are two of THE BEST of THE BEST.

I'm a 71 year old guy that only in the last few years came to have an ear for Bluegrass. I guess I'd have to blame it on the likes of Vince Gill and Allison Krauss for blazing a trail for me. The short of it is, I started listening to those SPBGMA hotel room sessions and some of the living room sessions you guys do...and I was hooked. There's a lot of talent in the world of Bluegrass. One of my favorite pieces is, "I've Waited As Long As I Can" from the hotel room sessions. But, there are many others. You guys (and gals) carry on. You're doin' good! ...Joe in Biloxi

Hey Russ...just saw you guys in Lancaster a couple days ago. I'm from Hanover so it was cool hearing some names I've known for years. I bought a guitar from Chris Warner many years ago and he's done work on several of my instruments. My banjo came from the late Hank Janney's Arrow Horse and I took lessons from Tom Adams. It's just neat hearing those names from a great player who's with the best band ever. KT!

While you are so humble to thank your viewers for their support it is you my friend and your fellow musicians that make such great American traditional music twhich brings us all here. By the way @ @2:23 in - isn't that a young Eddie Stubs on fiddle? Thank YOU Russ for the hours of musical enjoyment you have provided especially during our "in house" 2020 year!

And... if you ever get the opportunity treat us with some picking with you and Josh Williams! Don't know if you ever get to pick with him but it would be cool if you did! Thoroughly enjoy everything else though, feels like we get an inside glimpse at a lot of folks in music that we respect and of course we would die to be there playing with ya'll too. I love the music you post here on KZbin. I would really like to buy some of the songs you have here on the channel. I first found your channel while doing a search for a song called "Sally Goodin" on KZbin. I was looking for the version by Flatt & Scruggs, which I used to have on cassette when I was young. But I clicked on your Bus Tour version of Sally Goodin and I think it is the very best version I have ever heard. I've been a subscriber and fan since that time. Like I said, I would buy your music if it was available.
