One of my professors worked for mattel earlier in her career and she casually dropped the fact that she designed the packaging for LPS during class one day. I don't think she realized at the time how big of a deal that was to people our age, but the whole class flipped and we basically spent the last hour of class talking about things she had worked on in her career. I already loved her before that, but she gained some major respect that day.

I watched all the episodes of the LPS: Creepy Carnival series that this LPSTuber I was obsessed with made. Like that series genuinely shaped me as a person. This has been a crazy nostalgia trip. Sadly I don’t have any of my pet shops from my childhood. I gave most away when a community members house burned down and I wanted the daughter to have toys. I think I donated the rest once I was a tween. I wish I kept the rest I had left but my mom pressured me to stop playing with toys as I got older.

I am now old but I had no idea anything after gen 2 existed and I thought everyone hated gen 2 because when it came out my entire group of friends and I, basically every little girl in school, hated how goofy they looked. We really preferred the realistic design of gen 1 and I remember when we played with our pets if anyone had a pet with the wonky eyes, or god forbid, glitter or a design painted on it, all our pets would shun it and say it was a clown who'd escaped from the circus. (Lizards and birds got a pass, because it made sense at the time.) I loved playing with my LPS toys and it made me really sad to see how cheap and terrible they've gotten, but I agree with you that it's not the fault of the people who designed the toys, but the people who were supposed to bring the design to life.

Thought I should give y’all a different view of the community. I’m 19 now so I don’t make videos anymore but when I was younger I grew up in a very dysfunctional and abusive house. I had a friend that showed me lpstube and from then I was hooked. Me and her would watch lps popular and lps csi together. I started buying what I could, would barrow and trade with my friend and ask for nothing but sets and accessories for Christmas. Lpstube became my escape from my reality. As a child I could not only create my own world with absolute control and creativity, but also role play situations I had been in or seen to process and cope. I could do anything and everything with the pets. I had so many ideas for videos and such I still have my binders of 13 year me old with lps scripts, sketches, and designs . However I never finished videos or uploaded them believing they weren’t good enough which I fully regret. My sister and I were absolutely obsessed with LPS gen 2. Like, friends of the fam would buy us a couple Barbies and we literally only used them as background characters in our LPS stories. The barbies would die tragically in the first five minutes of playing leaving the protagonist LPS an alone wanderer at the cusp of their own adventure and that was the extent that we cared about dolls vs LPS. This video really spoke to my nostalgia 😂

Please PLEASE talk about the rise and fall of Monster High and Ever After High! I loved both doll series and collected them, still have them too, but when the redesign happened about 4 years ago and they started looking more like anime characters and all looking, idk, "nicer" I guess is how I'd describe them, the new look and heavily decreased quality really turned myself and a lot of other adult doll collectors off. The RBF of the first release was one of subtle draws for me, as if the original designers were trying to teach the kids they were marketed to "hey you dont have to smile all the time to be liked", but that last redesign just ruined them. Theres talk on the official pages of them coming back, but it's been very sporadic and I cant find any evidence of another redesign or new dolls anywhere other than the vague rumors on their official Insta and FB

Tbh I think Hasbro did a good job making them more memorable. The old Littlest Pet Shop was too mundane and imho there would have been too much competition from similar animal & pet-themed toys. I'm glad that the modern 2000's LPS turned out they way they did.
@niabelizaire3596 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I grew up with the modern Littlest Pet Shop designs and although I liked their original designs WAY BETTER (because they looked more lifelike back then), it was a good marketing strategy on Hasbro’s part. It’s bad enough that LPS was already competing with the Calico Critters.

My sister and I had two LPS horses as a kid, #523 and #560, and they served as the inspiration for an entire cinematic universe style game we would play. We didn't have a lot of toys of that size or style (I think the two we had were hand-me-downs) so we would buy Sculpey oven-bake clay and make our own animal toys, food, furniture, and props, with sets made of old shoeboxes. It became such a sprawling town that we put together some of them in a shadowbox frame and submitted it to the county fair, I believe under the name "Personified Animal Village" (a weirdly uncreative name for such an imaginative work now that I think about it). We won first prize, and I think the shadowbox with the town is still somewhere in my house. It's so funny to think that such a huge part of my childhood and one of my first creative outlets all began with two secondhand Littlest Pet Shop horses.

and does anyone also remember Animal Jam? Warrior cats, Animal Jam, LPS and Schleich figures were what I was obsessed with as a kid. I still remember playing with the LPS and figures in the water and grass while roleplaying, those were the best times tbh

I remember gathering with my friends in the computer lab in, I wanna say 2nd grade (?) playing Animal Jam, visiting each other’s dens, and being jealous of one of the group members because she had a membership while the other two of us were stuck on nonmember accounts. (Dammit, Diana.)

When I was around 10-11, I was friends with this girl who collected LPS. She was my best friend at the time, but sadly she moved and we inevitably lost contact, but before she did, she gave me two of her favourite LPS, a ladybug (#2308), and a kitten (#2575) and I will always cherish them for that reason.

What I expected: A fun documentary about a toy franchise that I personally have fond memories of. What I got: I Spy but instead you look for any of the LPS toys you once had as a kid. Seriously, when the horse riders' set was mentioned, I got flashbacks lol I used to love that set.

Wow, I am amazed to see that LPStube was not just a french thing!! I use to play with LPS a LOT as a kid and KZbin at the same time. There were a lot of french lpstubers as well and I even did some of those lps videos when I got my first tablet. This was such a confortable place back then, and Im glad to share common memories with the toys on an international scale!

For pointy-eared cats and dogs the head accessories effortlessly clicking into place (i.e., crowns, headbands, etc.) were too satisfying. I remember being in 7th grade and couldn’t believe the immersive experience of a frisbee being magnetic for the border collie it had come with

LPS was literally the start of my Creative Writing career. I would pour hours and hours into scripts, filming, editing, and DIYs to improve my videos. I still own all 300+ of my pets, and my mascot and her wife still sit on my desk as reminders of my roots and as inspiration to keep working. Packing up my LPS was literally the hardest thing to do, but to keep them safe for my children and/or my own nostalgia is super important. Plus, LPSTube taught me how hard it was to run a "full time business," as I like to say. Even though I only peaked at, maybe 2,000 subscribers, it was still demanding to release quality content every week, follow the plot lines I'd set up, and most importantly, cover topics I believed was important. I was coming out at the time, so making my mascot a lesbian and having her marry a woman was really big for me. Not to mention collabing with my friends, and biggest of all, meeting my best friend of 6 years in the comment section. This video is something I rewatch often, and I thank you for making it. Educating the KZbin population on something this meaningful to the 1% of the population that it was important to means a lot to said 1% 💖

As a former LPSTuber, this video touched a special place in my heart. I made these videos as a sense of freedom in the world because I had a hard time growing up and fitting in with everybody else during middle school. I used LPS to create videos because I was inspired by other LPSTubers such as SophieGTV who created stories using the toys and I have always loved telling stories using my imagination. Flash forward to today I feel so emotional and nostalgic for the way LPSTube was back then. Now because of COPPA, the community has fallen apart more than ever and it is now difficult to create the content that I used to. I also blame Hasbro for the way they have been treating LPS for years coming out with all these new generations and all we wanted was G2 back. I really hope in the future the LPS community will be brought back in some sort of way where it feels like a community again. Whether that would be if COPPA stops, or on a new platform. If it does, I would be very happy because LPS has been a big part of my life for many good reasons.

as someone who just turned 20, I used to make so many movies with these things on my moms phone with a sliding keyboard. i still remember my first set and the day I decided I didn't want to invest in anymore. it was when I went to the zellers down the street that closed down years ago and realized that all the new petshops are the same moulds with different colourings. I ended up giving away my collection years later and now im sitting here deeply regretting it. I have so many memories with these, so many. I could write an essay of them all.
