I briefly met Orlando Brown in 2007, when I worked as a server. He was VERY kind and polite, however I could tell he had been through some things. I have worked with victims of SA for awhile now and I know the look of hollowness when I see it. Everything about him screams abused. It did then and it does now. Writing him off as just an addict or “crazy” is flat out disrespectful and dismissive. People need to stop doing that.

As hard as it is, I do think anyone can come back from addiction. My mom was friends with a woman for years. Her mom gave her meth at _13_ .So in her 40s she was a “casual” user that lived with her bf and friends in a trailer “park”. She never pushed it on anyone, actually the opposite, and she was a genuinely sweet and funny person. Then, after years of her not speaking to her parents, her mom called because she was dying. The friend stayed with the mom until her death and her mom left her the home and ranch she and her more recent husband had built as an apology for how she started her daughters life. She got clean! It took a lot, but she did! And she got a job as a trucker, and she takes her dog traveling. She loves her life, and she deserved to get to that point. I hope he can have a similar ending.

V, it sounds like you love your sister and have a lot of grief surrounding her past use. But try using language that pins the problem on the drugs, rather than the person. Avoiding words like "drug addict" and attributing drug-induced characteristics to her, rather than the affects of the drugs, can be damming if not damaging. And don't worry, she still has lots of good qualities, including the incredible intelligence and strength it takes to overcome an addiction. Best of luck to your family

@@Flyn4thewin Don't lecture the person on their own familial problems that you don't know and the language they choose to describe people you don't know, because you don't know them at all. In this individual's opinion, their sister was robbed of their best qualities by the process of their dependence. Does that actually make any difference? I think almost all people have redeeming qualities, through any kind of drug use sure, but why do OUR opinions matter to this person's very personal situation? You don't know this person, their family, their sister, at all. Incredible intelligence to overcome addiction, sure hahaha I'll let my mate know who got clean because he beat his gf and went to prison but sat in solitary the whole time bc he was a wifebeater, I'll let him know how deeply intelligent that was.

Addiction is usually a person self medicating for underlying problems and I think his focus on sexual things may be very telling into the underlying issues. We've heard about a lot of sexual abuse that occurs in the entertainment industry. No one wants to say that some of that may be occurring in the Disney machine but there are soooo many people that work for Disney so probably statisticaly its likely that it is occurring at Disney "allegedly". Not saying this is his issue but it's something to consider.

No he wouldn't. His solution for loneliness is self-love which is not the solution for loneliness and actually very hurtful. A lot of his advice is also terrible and he tends not to do proper research and assume that because it's someone he doesn't like that everything they say is a lie. Like in the ACE family video when they were talking about being ripped off with their house and he kept saying that's impossible and making fun of them when contractors (at least in my area) are so dishonest that if you're not there watching them install light bulbs or put wiring in the walls them they'll shove them into their car and leave (speaking from personal experience). Even liars tell the truth sometimes. Leo sounds really nice because of his speech pattern until you start paying attention to his words then you realize how harsh he is to the person he's talking about... except Nikocado for some reason

I can certainly understand him having his childhood pulled from under him translating into him wanting to help kids. I feel like when you experience a hardship in your childhood it makes you extra sensitive to it once you're an adult. For example I grew up in poverty and would often not get presents on my birthday or Christmas. As an adult my love language is gift giving. Now that I have adult money I always end up spending waaay too much money buying presents for my family because I want them to have a good birthday or Christmas. Its actually caused a lot of issues in my life because I'll often end up spending money I need for myself.
@RedVelvetRabbit

I can relate for sure. My big love language is gifts and things too, I can't help it. I've been working on being more practical with my money and making sure I have enough for me first, but goodness is it difficult sometimes. It's never the money spent that matters, it's their face lighting up and that feeling that someone thought of them that makes it all worthwhile.

Drugs change you for the worst. imo, there’s no amount of physical addiction that your body can handle without having atleast some neurological issues develop. I had a propensity for snorting drugs I liked at 16, 17, because it got me higher, faster, and I had the mindset of “I’m young, I get good grades, I play sports, it’s not gonna happen to me.” Drugs literally don’t care. An old friend of mine passed me a tray late one night on his porch and was told it was oxycoton, it appeared to be the typical amount & consistency, but it was far too dark outside to tell. We’d been doing drugs together for years so I didn’t have the wherewithal to say no, and it ended up being a significant amount of heroin. Way more than anyone should do there first or second or tenth time trying a drug that strong. That was all she wrote. As a kid I was raised heavily religious and always told myself I’d never do drugs, then in my teens I had a “big 3” I would never touch. Meth, Crack, and Heroin. Looking back, it was the dumbest mindset I could’ve possibly had, but I genuinely believed I never would’ve tried any of that of my own volition. I was far too trusting, and far too willing to get high. I’m only 24, I’ve been sober for 4 years, and I have several mental health issues I simply didn’t experience before drugs. Severe anxiety, mental depressive disorder, narcissistic tendencies. I’m lucky that I caught it early enough that I escaped without completely losing my mind and personality. The high in your teens is not worth a lifetime of recovery. Take it from someone whose been there.

Exactly. This is why I went crazy when my sister started dating this chick who she barely knew in LA and the gf convinced her to get her 7 year old daughter into "modeling". She had professional photos and a whole portfolio and was bragging about it on FB how her child was starting her "modeling career". It was so disgusting, but the gf ended up cheating on her so she moved back to Canada to marry this nasty guy who was willing to take care of her and her child. I haven't talked to my sister in years and don't plan to anymore, there's a lot of shit wrong with her and is one of those people who if you criticize her in any way she gets fire in her eyes and super angry and will start screaming at you "defending herself" trying to flip everything she does on you saying you're the problem. She never understood or even cared how much danger she could have put her child in, that is assuming nothing already happened in those 6 months she was a "model" :/ all she cared about was the attention and I feel like a lot of parents who get their kids into acting or modeling of some shit they just want easy money and fame. It's the same problem with TikTok and all these animal channels that get millions of views easy cuz everyone wants to see a cute animal. They get pets or too many they can't take care of either feeding or vet bill wise so the animals get abused for views and clout and the owner makes all the money and keeps it all, usually not putting any of the money back into caring for the pet. Sorry for the rant it's just...ugh a problem I hate clout chasers and people who would do evil things to vulnerable children and animals for money and fame, like how is that worth it?

Probably because Hollywood is no more a lion's den than normal society. I'd even argue that it's less, given that over 90% of sexual abuse cases in children are committed by family members, partners, and friends, rather than random strangers. The only difference is that cases in Hollywood receive worldwide media coverage, as opposed to those in normal society.

Leo there’s no way you can say Orlando is high on weed in the Dr.Phil show clips. He’s been a hardcore drug user for almost 20 years. There is no weed on earth that could intoxicate you to that level after using it every day for decades. He’s on some kind of downer or cocktail of pills. Not saying he’s not also high on weed but this guy has done massive quantities of the hardest drugs available. He’s not nodding out and slurring speech from marijuana.

As a person in the industry, this isn't just Disney stars anymore. If you want to be hired for any big franchise (Marvel, Netflix, etc) as a child, you need to be malleable and say yes, while being unproblematic (and so do your parents). These kids will one day realise that everyone around them is there to leech off them, and they can't even trust their managers or talent agents, of course there's no longevity or health. This industry still exploits everyone it can.

That's why's it's absolutely important to be off drugs for a diagnosis because if your using drugs to self medicated it will exacerbate the situation and u don't know which is causing the psychosis. He’s totally opiated up in the Dr Phil show, I can see it a mile off. Wanna point out that one reason that no one ever questions his insane rambles about Raven is likely because everyone knows it's no use arguing with him about it, because he'll just double-down. There's a form of delusion that, no matter how insane it is or how much evidence proves against it, the person will never ever believe anything to the contrary. You see it pretty often in a few psychological disorders, and it's even more common to see it in addicts that get into the harder stuff. Like meth. It's not always malicious of course. Sometimes does just come from some sort of imagined scenario they thought was real, or maybe the delusion even has some partial truth to it. He very well could've misread an interaction with Raven on set and recalled it years down the road during a drug binge, then his imagination filled in the gaps. But it could also be a very immature/poor attempt to get her bad press, like a little brother that gets mad when an older sibling is getting more praise for something. It's hard to say in Orlando's case, because meth addicts in particular typically (note I *didn't* say always) become very manipulative. After a while it gets really hard to tell what words are from the genuine person, and what all is just the crank talking.

28:05. The fact you either dont mention or don't know he was quoting Hansen's "m'bop" is downright criminal

Child stars I think need extra extra layers of protection. Idk what that would look like but not how it is now. They even need protection from parents sometimes. (Jeanette's book was so heartbreaking and well written. it really touched me and really opened the light on how some childhood stars are neglected and abused and exploited and there are way too many people complicit in okay with it. It doesn't sound like a minority it sounds like a majority.) Like a certain amount of their money has to be put in a savings that they can't touch until they're 18 and no one else can touch it and maybe have a regular mental health checkups or have a third party that doesn't benefit come and check on things or I don't know just lots and lots and LOT of layers of protection.

At least Orlando Brown didn't take Dr. Phil's advice. Good for him.

27:24 It’s funny that Leo is unaware of Mmmbop, but sad he’ll only know of the song because it’s how Orlando Brown describes his sex game.

He’s singing the Hanson song MMMBop when he’s scatting. Am I the only one who picked up on that?

So that scatting that Brown did during the VladTV interview was actually MMBop by Hansen. Totally useless fact lol. In all seriousness though, Brown is a cautionary tale of the spiral of childhood stardom. He went from having everything within his grasp at an early age to feeling like there was nothing to call his own. The transition to adulthood is rough enough for some people who aren't celebrities. Even if he had people in his entourage who tried to help him course correct, which maybe he did, addiction itself is addictive, especially when you feel adrift. Of course, there's an entire conversation to be had about Disney and its direct impact on its child stars.

The best part now is that Orlando Brown is off the drugs. And he did it by himself.

@38:00 same bro... Same... But can honestly say 9 years into fatherhood I've been the father I wish I had. However, I think if I hadn't worked in childcare for 10 years and received an early childhood education, I probably wouldn't have had all the tools to break some of the toxic patterns of my family culture
