thanks for doing this walk-through. I've had this synth for a week and it's collected a little dust. This has helped me get to grips with it again.

it is a great synth, I have a spot where my KSP sits, just haven't bought one yet, waiting on "other" things to pan out 1st.

Sorry, who is the Zack you mentioned also talking about this synth?

Someone else noted you kicked off with "Mini Brute"! 😁 Quite a few other YT'rs start with "the new Micro Freak"!!!, so at least that's different 😉..... anyway, mine just arrived after a very long wait so going to dig in to it over the weekend. Looking forward to that!!😎👍🎹🎶🇬🇧🍻

Arguably the best bang for your buck of the mini, but full featured synths. Even with a few less features, this sounds miles ahead of the hydrasynth!

What makes you think it sounds miles ahead of the Hydrasynth? Personally I miss the ability to pan the individual oscillators (let alone the voices) on the Minifreak. All patches sound pretty narrow/mono without any effects. I also think the filters sound more interesting on the Hydrasynth, they definitely have more drive and "grit". I think where the Minifreak wins is in the DAW integration category with its excellent VST, as well as in the ease of use. But I'd say the Hydrasynth has the sonic edge. At least to my ears. If I had to choose, I'd pick the Minifreak simply because of the workflow improvements with the VST.

@@sinewaymusic Totally different value propositions and very different classes. I personally thin the Hydra is above and beyond, but the minifreak is still absolutely fantastic and very inspiring. Can't even compare feature wise, I mean now wavetable for a start on the mf.

@@sinewaymusic The Hydra sounds thin & weedy to my ears, no matter the patch or settings. Every sound has an overtone that is unmistakable and unavoidable. I had a deluxe for a couple months, but could not gel with its sound. Featurewise, it is superior sure, but it did not inspire me personally. The minifreak on the other hand punches well above its weigh class sonically in every sound category and right from the init patch. The analog filters and VCAs make all the difference to my ears. Again, just my opinion.

Ive owned both. The hydra has a better sound, as far as the raw oscillators. Minifreak has a more interesting arpeggiator and sequencing is better. If you want basic and classic synth sounds, hydra all the way. If you want to have more quick modulation and sequencing get the mini. But i thought the hydra sounded incredible. It can go toe to toe with any much more expensive synth in terms of tone, for sure.

@@stevenelson7650 Agree to disagree. I've owned both as well. Couldn't stand the sound of the hydra ooscillators. Sold the hydra deluxe, will keep the minifreak. I respect your opinion though. To each their own, such is the beauty of this hobby and life!

Is it possible to record an arpeggio to the sequencer?

Or better , bring out the innards of the keyboard in a 19 inch rack with just a volume pot for 200 bucks , pretty shure it's a very small mainboard

How come I never see a video of someone playing a killer lead on a synth? They are all too much fiddling with the knobs and not enough jamming on the keys. Are synths used for leads or are leads more a midi thing now? Do I just not understand synths? I want a synth I can jam on with an awesome pitch range.
