Highlights of a DIY whitetail & mule deer hunting adventure in Montana. Armed with a wall tent and rifles, we headed off to the mountains seeking whitetails, but wouldn't pass up a giant mule deer if the opportunity were presented.

Terrific camp setup, I think we can all raise a toast to the fine cuisine of camp! Also, he who hunts with ruger #1 is both classy and confident! He who names it 'Sir Sledge-ington' has a fantastic sense of humor and would be welcome among any group of hunters. Great video guys.

I relived my earlier days watching your video. Putting the tent up,,cooking on the campstove and baking biscuits in a box oven. Then I remembered waking up in the middle of the night cold, having to go out in the cold to answer mother natures call,not fun. Thank god for travel trailers.! JB, Great video, I told the wife years ago that when I retire from the Army that I want to spend the first month in Montana Deer Hunting. Your video is making me reconsider staying in for a few more years, I may have to call it quits soon. Looks like you had a great hunt and lots of fun. I spent 10 days in Illinois bow hunting with a few of my fellow Sergeant Majors. We had a blast, I missed a huge wide 10 point the first night he jumped the string on me at 30 yards. I had a few more chance but they never panned out. I did end up shooting 2 does so I filled the freezer up. At one point during our trip there was 10 other hunters from Michigan in the same parking lot I was parked in, we had a great talk about the fact that we were all from Michigan and were deer hunting in another stated and all ended up next to each other. You wold have thought we were on state land in Michigan. I didn't have any luck during our gun season, but muzzle loader opens up on the 20th and I will be on leave so all is not lost. Have a Great Holiday season, Jackson asked me the other day when you were going to post another Fiesta Steelhead video. Steve
@ConsummateSportsman
@ConsummateSportsman 9 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve! Glad to hear you got into some exciting action in Ill! Does are a heck of a lot better than an empty freezer! Yeah, MI deer hunting is just a fraction of its true potential. Maybe someday we'll see some improvements. Let Jackson know that we'll be on the river soon chasing steel. Probably not a fiesta though. Haha!

Great video! Been in Montana hunting in the late 1980. Killed a bear, several Deer. No Elk. Hunted in the Bob Marshall, and Bitteroot. Spent a lot of a cold nights in the wall tent like you stayed in. On the bear hunt I stayed in a cabin went Trout Fishing also after I got my bear! Loved every second of the trips. Watching this brought back a lot of fond memories!! Thanks for sharing!

Spot and stalk hunting on public land is very challenging. There are a lot of variables to contend with and lots of gear to manage. I can’t imagine adding cinematography to the list of things to grapple with. Omg a third person there to handle the camera work exclusively would be sweet!
