It's ticketed entry so the overcrowding is entirely the fault of management. That, and the Mona Lisa should really be moved out of the museum and into its own pavilion.

Ticketing? TICKETING? TICK-ET-ING? So they make MASSIVE money from this place with 8 million visitor tickets, but what happens to the money? They buy mansions and muscle cars for themselves with it, no doubt. And let the place rot. Well done

What's more important is the masterpieces inside. Moreover the palace is huge and hard to maintain like all castles and all the rooms cannot be maintained all at once at the same time. They finished to restore the Egypt department few years ago and clearly other departments have been maintained across the centuries.

To be honest, i am from southern France and i visit Louvre every few months, People often forget that it is a museum not a restaurant, a playground or your living room. Every damn time i visited, over crowded is one thing but some parents letting their children run every where like hooligans, or some people screaming or what not. No a slight respect for the arts or the establishment itself, it breaks my heart and complaining about the heat or lack of seating place, well dress a bit warmer or you can make 2-3 times visit or plan your visit ahead. that's what i did with my friends and family from outside france when they wanted to visit Louvre, i plan ahead of time and so far for 20yrs, no complains. What i meant to say is plan ahead, Louvre is enormous and its not a one day event. and if you are hungry or tired, there are places for rest and many restaurant and fastfood chain are even available. I adore arts, history and culture, when i visited Louvre Abu Dhabi, it was such a pleasure to see how respectful the visitors are compare to louvre paris. This new generation, all they do is complain and complain and I just don't get why people/visitor expected to be treated like kings and queens? I guess these days people love to nagged or complained about just anything as if they have the best service back home.

I will bow to your experience however, the film edits miss the point. The staff have to work there everyday without enough toilets lift or heating. The new management are not investing in maintenance and it's now not a water tight building which is worrying as it holds such famous priceless art. I wonder where that 10 year plan and money went?? I was curious though. Doesn't art have to be kept at a certain temperature to keep it's integrity? Shouldn't the maintenance be the biggest investment?

I think the problem with people acting the way they do in famous museums is the lack of proper art education in schools. Many are not coming to the Louvre to see the art but to tick it off their tourist destinations list. On one hand i'm very happy to see long lines in front of museums but at the same time when i see how some people are acting inside it makes my blood boil. I saw someone touching acient egyptian sculptures and saying "ew it looks so old" or slaping the fresco above the door in Sistine Chapel! The overcrowding in many of these places is making it worse since it makes it impossible for staff to control the crowd.
@SamanthaMadison197
@SamanthaMadison197 19 сағат бұрын
“Dress a bit warmer” - what about the people who work there? And aren’t such cold temperatures damaging to the art?
@marua-z1m
@marua-z1m 18 сағат бұрын
@@SamanthaMadison197 the temperatature inside a museum should usually be around 18 to 22° C so it might feel cold for the staff there especially if they are not moving much. Since they didn't specify how low the temperature inside Louvre is it's hard to tell if it's low by design to protect the art or if there really is a problem with heating

To the Brazilian guy complaining there aren’t any seating/rest areas for children : this is a museum, not a daycare. Most tourists who take their kids to the Louvre let them run free and yell in the galleries : educate your damn kids. They’re your responsibility, not the museum’s. If your kid is under 10 and hyperactive/easily bored, maybe don’t take them to the Louvre.

Museums should have seats so people can admire the paintings without having their bodies dragging them down because of their poor health. You should think about other people. This society is inclusive, everyone counts

@@truehappiness4UNo they don't. That's not how a art museum works. A painting is not a teather play, it's to be briefly admired and move on to the next because other people also want to admire it. OP is absolutely right.

@@truehappiness4U over 80 000 people visit the museum every day in high season. What do you propose? How many thousands of seats? Of course museums should accommodate people as much as they can, but you also need to understand that people need to be educated about what coming to a museum like the Louvre means.

I was there in 2023 and it was a really bad experience because there was just too many people in there, like 3 times more than there should be. My dad, who was 74 at the time, couldn't stand it and we left in less than an hour. The D'orsay was a much better experience, we loved it!

I'm sorry about your experience. I'm wondering, there might be some hours and days in the week when it's more quiet? Maybe as visitors we should plan according to that. I went with my kids under 10 years old, so I knew we would not stay very long because their attention span is limited. But I wanted them to see this beautiful place and have a feeling of the arts. If I would go on my own I would definitely seek a more quiet time of day, if there is such a thing, to appreciate fully the visit and have a more intimate moment with the pieces of art that I'd like to see.

British Museum suffers similarly from overcrowding, although there’s definitely more place for rest and the room temp is well maintained. Museums directors at Louvre could for once use a museum visit as a learning trip rather than an expensed pleasure hunt

French museums are inconsistently maintained. Some parts of the Louvre are very new or just seem well maintained, whereas other parts look poorly organized and are visibly aging. Worse off, I visited the Institut du Monde Arabe this summer and that museum was in absolutely horrible condition, truly an embarrassment to the French government or whoever funds it. On the other hand, the Picasso Museum and the Monet Museum (in 16e) are wonderfully maintained and very enjoyable to spend time in.
