My Grandad was a desert rat - salt of the earth he was. And a gentleman. And very funny.

My grandad too served under the jerboa insignia, faught in north africa, and served in burma, my dad would tell me about grandad and how he had an archive of kukri blades that he had attained from fallen gurkha soliders in the jungles, what a formidable, beautiful and valiant generation they truly were, i never got to meet my pops, but from what my father has told me he was the same, very intelligent also, god bless them all.

@@silky2916 That's great. I was very lucky, I grew up with my Grandad and was 31 when he died. I was the only family member that loved listening to his war stories even if I'd heard them before. I now tell them to my daughter and hope she will pass them on. Some funny some incredible and lucky. He guides many of my thoughts to this day.
