Fantastic lick! Thank you for giving us the insight into its base. Used so much but still sounds so impressive. From swing jazz players like1950s Bill Jennings to Blues players like Kid Ramos, Dave Specter and Charlie Baty this has always sounded great

That's a really sweet lick. Learning it all over the fretboard is on my list of to-do's for tomorrow. (It's too late now in California, and I need to hit the rack.) Thanks for the lick!

Glad you like it Matt. Yes, great exercise to try licks in other places on the fretboard.

Who is this insanely dorky guitar meister? I have no idea, but I do know that his lessons are some of the best instructional content youtube has to offer.

‘Kokomo Blues’ by Scrapper Blackwell appears to be the closest in melodic terms to Johnson’s tune. What makes Robert Johnson’s song unique, is the three string double stop lick that has become common place amongst Rock’n’Roll and R&B guitarists ever since. The other variations mentioned in Wiki are piano driven, ‘stride-style’ approaches - or in Blackwell’s case, the chord-lick-chord, almost ragtime feel peculiar to ‘Piedmont’ guitar players.

You've got a really good twang to your jazzmaster. What amp /pedals do you use please. My jazzmaster has never sounded that good.
@ERMAV3 жыл бұрын
Don’t need no pedals.
@sezamdonaldo53352 жыл бұрын
i think you just need a delay pedal. set the delay to give you a "slapback"...should be like 400msec. you can also throw in a reverb as the jazzmaster is a real surfrock machine, but basically just put on a delay with a slapback

Great playing as always Adrian! What kind of picks do you use, if you don't mind me asking?
@acpg8 жыл бұрын
Usually Dunlop 500 .96mm. But I'll go thinner for acoustic strumming, and for really technical stuff I might go for something pointier, like a Jazz III XL.
