Attempt number 2: Was just about to press the SEND key when my IPad ran out of power, so here we go again 😪 A really action packed vlog, lots of history as usual (tinged with sadness re the signalling error).. Great drone footage and interesting facts. I so enjoyed the vlog, albeit until you mentioned losing your keys! We once were in that situation and tracked them back to the waste bin (yep, my wife had thrown them out with some rubbish 😢). Hope they turn up Tim 🤞🤞 I am so addicted to your vlogs, so please keep them coming 👍🏻😊

Thank you. I'm afraid I don't have a wife - so no-one to blame but myself. Just finished breakfast, a quick shower then on the phone to chase up the missing keys. Otherwise a quiet few days ahead - not much happening at Carlisle. Best wishes.

I've been on Settle and Carlisle three times by train. Great to see the old railway housing explained. Your circular footage around Garsdale was lovely. A part of the drywall fencing has fallen into disrepair, sadly. Th shots of the viaduct were also excellent, along with your explanation of the one time branch line. Avanti WC should concentrate its efforts on reducing cancellations and operating punctually, rather than promoting woke causes! Good footage of Tangmere, a loco I've travelled behind on a heritage railway in your nation, possibly at Mid Hants south of London. Hope you have found your keys.

There was yet an another Tangmere disaster again today on the Cumbrian Mountain Express charter, (21/9/24) She was a total failure with a serious cylinder defect and our charter over the Settle to Carlisle line only made it as far as Kirkby Stephen before it failed, they had to take the motion off the loco and to add further insult to injury, the class 47 that was in tow also failed. We limped back into Carlisle yet again and the Railway Touring Company couldn't roster 86 259 (Les Ross) to come up from Preston where the changeover from steam back to electric was due to occur. In the end we were all in an "abandoned ship" state as the company had to hastily transfer all of us onto a Pendolino service train in the end. You honestly couldn't make this up if you tried! No Tangmere, no Settle to Carlisle run and a totally disastrous trip that totally ruined our day, both me and my partner have mobility issues and we took our 15 year old son out for a treat. Some treat this turned out to be? (We had absolutely no chance to see the loco at any point, because we were ushered off the platform because LNER Azumas were using the WCML because of track engineering issues and we never had a chance to see Tangmere either when the Settle line excursion started proper either. It might as well been a class 37 hauling us, with a smoke bomb smoke discharge fitted to it for all that we saw of her! What was really upsetting was other people were selfishly, and shamefully bundling themselves aboard the Pendolino service train to grab all the seats, (including some of the charter's stewards) while us and and wheelchair users that came on the excursion were ignored and we had to fend for ourselves. It was like a scene of "every man and woman for themselves". Totally disgusting behaviour. We are going to seek compensation as they totally and incompetently spoilt our day. We got back to Euston absolutely knackered and bedraggled, like survivors from a sinking ship. As for Tangmere and it's recent terrible reliability problems, If you can't repair or prepare your vintage locos properly; they should be retired as static exhibits in a museum. I have experienced a few charter failures in my time and it must be expected from time to time, but this was a case of total incompetence and a lack of duty of care.

I have a fear of loosing my keys one day. My old neighbour used to have a spare one but not the new people who moved in. Tangmere looked great slowly rounding the curve not a huge disaster you missed her appearing on the embankment, She was running early so made good time I saw on Railcam they stopped on Ribblehead viaduct for a short time thought that was very good of the driver. Always think about the collision at Garsdale on my way up there Christmas Eve 1910 A song Land of the Pennine God tells of it.

@@schoolshorts I saw a plastic key box for sale once but did not get one, you need a good easy to get to place to hide it. Thanks Les. Certainly a memorable day. Kate has been putting in some work behind the scenes and has established that the keys are not at Garsdale. Northern are hopeless - quite impossible to get through to so, frankly, I don't expect to see the keys again. A locksmith and new lock looks probable. As I say - a day to remember.

I'm not sure but think they probably slipped out of my pocket as I slept on the train back to Carlisle.
