Here in Canada all my friends had vinyl cape Jawas. I had a cloth cape Jawa and thought I had the “rare different one”.

I would never have wanted a vinyl cape. Actually even as a kid the vinyl capes were a pet peeve. They would rip around the arms and I just took them off.

I call bullcrap. There's no way one routinely "accidentally" discovered such perfect MOC specimens, and the capes look suspiciously like Ben Kenobi capes cut down.

Mr. Rosen was either really lucky, or he had really good contacts and paid good finders fees or it was a combination of both. Can't deny his success or that people either loved or hated him. I never was a fan of his selling prices, as they were too rich for me back then.

Mr. Rosen went around the country buying up all the jawas he could right before the Prequals. One of those Jawas I had in my hands....I sold it to him, along with one of the skiffs you see him holding in his Toy Shop ad.

He must have had good contacts and paid a good finders fee. Before everyone starts spewing their hate, there are things left our of this video, which is in now in my top 5 favorite videos. 1) Nobody was specific on what percentage he made reselling the cards and figures, you can't judge someone for flipping collectables. 2) He's no different than ebay or other places like card shops, comic shops and vintage toy stores that sell vintage cards and toys. 3) It sounds like he also bought large lots of collectables, and 99.99% of the time, businesses give you a discount on large bulk buys. 4) Collectables are only as valuable as how much somebody wants to pay (salt was worth more than gold at one time). 5) The more valuable a collectable, the more money you can get for it in an emergency. 6) The collectables market goes up and down, and 1 person can't affect the market going up or down. 7) There will always be collectables out of the reach of the average person, but with the willingness to do extra work and budgeting make the hight dollar items closer to your reach.

Not surprising. The vynl cape were very common. When The figures were in stores.. It's on recent years that the vynll jawed were suddenly "rare"

Is there a significance to the Jawas having a vinyl cape? I assume there is being vinyl is mentioned a lot, I just don't know what it is.

The vinyl cape Jawas were produced in a very limited quantity because parents complained of the size of the figure, and it was being charged the same amount as every other figure. It was given a cloth cape and hood to give it more value to the other figures.

Early in the production, Kenner switched from a vinyl cape to the cloth cape, making it pretty rare.

@@GarretGrayCamera Back then I never even saw an actual jawa figure in a store until 1979. They were really hard to find for some reason. So it’s no wonder I never saw a vinyl caped jawa in the wild.

The figures shipped for the theater giveaway was shipped by box, so they stores would know who they had and each store would get the same number. They didn't ship them in mix boxes to the giveaways, as they wanted each place to have the same number. So its easier to ship by case

Was the box shown in the video the “actual” box being talked about? If so, maybe a collector just used an original box to store his figures in. The ad even shows that one of the Jawas had the proof of purchase removed. Very interesting story!

And now i wonder, is he in Heaven or in Hell for that greed? Life gets you, everytime. I bet he used that money for that Cancer. Smh. I am a collector too, i only keep my figs for 10 years or so, then i sell them so someone else can enjoy them as much as i did. Just remember, when you die, you dont get to take everything with you.
