My favourite insanity effect are the ‘false islands’ with the houses and their little glowing windows. Exactly what a stressed and frightened person may crave to see in the dark of night.

I loved watching you play this game, mostly because of how relaxed it is but also seeing you experience the mystery and discovery. It's always cool to see people trying to figure things out on their first go of a game that doesn't give everything away right away, though I get how it can be un-enjoyable if there are backseaters in the comments lol

Nice fishing trip, Odd. You may want to go back and hunt for the other ending because it will help explain the questions you had at the end. Might not be enough for another video but is worth checking out for the closure. It is arguably a more satisfying ending than this one.

I thought this series was rushed a bit which was sad as it was really enjoyable. It’s peaceful and relaxing to have on & gameplay is rewarding in about the same sense as getting panini stickers for the World Cup, that type of reward system. Plus it works well with your voice generally and self-deprecating humour when you crash. Saying that I think it’s now a one-and-done until the DLC comes out.
@Vikki_T Жыл бұрын
You are extremely close to the other ending. As a Lovecraftian themed game, this is one where I actually loved the endings because they made sense for one (lol). Personally, I love the game because of the Lovecraftian theme combined with the calming fishing side. The notes when you put them together make a *lot* of sense, even the one that seems like someone just threw words at the paper. The main character is grief filled and absolutely insane when you think about who he is, what he's done, and what he's willing to do to get his wife back regardless of the consequences that he knows will happen. The lighthouse keeper keeps alluding to this the whole game that you *know*, and he does but has split himself into two new personalities which you read. I won't give anything else out in case you play through the other ending, but if you do it does make things clearer if you reread the notes in order from oldest to newest and consider what people have told you, no matter how crazy it sounds.

So funny watching Odd play an insanity play-through by accident... I get that he doesn't just play one game to finish so things will be forgotten, but one of the first things you are told is to not fish at night and to go to sleep when you see the eye. It was also funny how he mixed up the enemies from the last 2 zones.

You want to know why people watched this? It's got atmosphere, intrigue, and adventure. That's what keeps people glued to the screens. Also it evokes emotions, we watch people play games to "feed on their emotions", pardon the creepy way I said it. I've watched countless playthroughs of Alien Isolation and Soma (and some Amnesia Rebirth) for the emotions it evokes in the people playing them. Of couse, others might have other reasons for watching, but this were mi reasons, on top of the usual reasons of quality videos and good commentary.

Thanks for playing the game, Odd! I always enjoy watching your stuff, even if seeing you never sleep gave me anxiety. To answer some of your questions... The not moving monster was the wormy guy in the twisted strand. It does work on the lava one too, but only if none of her babies are under you. You can use banish on them. Stress causes birds, tentacle, stuff crawling on your ship, weird red hurricanes, and fast shark. If you ever wanted to come back and complete all the tasks/catch all fish, I’ll happily watch.

In regards to what draws me in with your long series, it would have to be the fact that you engage with the game, the systems, and the story on a far more serious level than many Let's Players. I'll watch other channels if I feel the game is a good mesh for them to 'bounce off of' and be entertainers but if I'm truly interested in a game for its own sake, you're my go-to guy for the guided tour that lets the game shine rather than jumping in front with wacky youtuber hijinks. You take it slow, you fully engage, you think about what you're doing, you let the game show off its charms.

This series was awesome!! The ending legit creeped me out!! My favorite line was “not sure if this is the bad ending based on the vibes I’m getting here”. Well Jean Gray just came out of the ocean and a giant skull worm thing emerged from the depths of the ocean and the entire town is on fire. I’d be willing to bet it’s the bad ending haha 😅. Can’t wait to watch the next series! Cheers!

This is the 3rd game I bought from watching your play-throughs and probably my fav indie game experience. Did not* expect a horror fishing game to be so immersive and even relaxing. While there's limited replay value, I imagine it'll still be great to dip back into the Dredge vibe now and then :)
@konradkurze1067 Жыл бұрын
Why I liked this series: It's pretty simple and straightforward, you get immersed into single player story based games so quickly and easily, you are easily the best content creator for being immersed in games. You really become the protagonist so easily, it's hilarious watching you say something and having the protagonist repeat it half a second later. It doesn't feel like watching a streamer, it just feel like watching the game because you get into it so well. Dredge isn't a hugely story based game, but the story that is there is really fun to see you puzzle your way through. Plus the game is just relaxing, its nice to see something that doesn't take me to the edge of my seat all the time lol. This was just a fun immersive gameplay series, and that's what I really enjoy about your channel.

Thank you for playing dredge! I hadn't known about it before but i played it for three days straight after your first vid about it 😂 I really like these games because theyre story and lore driven, i got the good ending initially because im nosy and kept talking to everyone between quests haha And to be fair a game where you can play during the day and ignore the spooky night stuff if you want makes the game very friendly to people who are easily scared by horror games, but you can still get the spooky nature of the story I think a lot of people are also drawn to series that have a world you want to learn more about, like what do the other towns out there look like? you see ruins of the old towns and want to know more but the game only gives you snippets of what happened! And stuff like the cloaked figures, the corrupted fish deliveries and the researcher give you just enough to want to know more about the world as well

Sorry for the comment spam but you did ask at the end for why we liked you watching this game... from the perspective of someone who has fully completed the game (all achievements, all side quests, caught every single fish and their variants). For me,. it's the joy of someone figuring out what is going on story wise and sharing in the joy of your "aha" moments (even though you played the whole game without figuring out the sanity meter - which drove me nuts!). It's also interesting to see how you handled your boat upgrades... but the most entertaining thing of all.... the sheer amount of hull damage you took!!! Though to be fair, in mangrove and devils I crashed my damn boat ALL THE TIME. This game also proves you don't need to be a AAA studio with amazing ray traced graphics to make a great game. This has a nice cosy gameplay, a very pleasing art style and a story that unwinds in a way that keeps you interested. It's a joy to play and even more of a joy to watch someone else discover that joy.

I'm glad you finished this game Odd. I think I enjoyed it because it was relaxed and mysterious, and didn't require huge brains or twitch reflexes to play and comprehend. It wasn't loud or in your face (not that that's a bad thing since I'm also watching Showgunners) and was just a nice chill game. It kinda reminds me of dayz playthroughs if that makes sense. Also, and I mean this with the utmost respect, I love the fact that you finished the game without figuring out that panic was the eye thingy, and the more open it was the more bad things happened, like the monsters and the crows.

Thank you Mr Odd. Another great series. Few people play a good story game nearly as well as you. Also, why I loved this series. I played this through, loved it. It was really cool seeing you experience it for the first time. Since the game was (or at least this ending) was so short, it was the right size to do twice, without having to "do" it myself the second time. Also I love your reactions to the mysterious things. And of course the story. I played Subnautica similarly, although I saw you start, played it myself, then watched you finish it. Very enjoyable. Also great to have on background while I work. Thanks again Mr Odd. I am going to edit this once again. In a game that is similar to this, that has that "first time you play it, hits so hard" type of game: If you haven't played Journey yet, do it on video. Its not super long, probably just one video. Anyone who has played it, and watches you, will love it. Amazing game. IMO.

Hi Odd! I've been watching your videos since Machine for Pigs, and I have to say, I really, really enjoyed watching this series! You asked us to tell you what you liked in so few words, so to answer you: I loved how it was on theme for your channel, but it was a different vibe from a lot of the normal games of the same theme. It was a short series (which I really enjoy yous long plays too!) So it was easy to keep up with and binge. And the game itself was very simple to understand, the story was SUPER good, I really loved all the encounters and felt the same way you did every time you caught a new fish! Thank you for finishing this game. Even with it being the "bad" ending, it was very cool and also gave the story closure. More indie horror games like this while doing AAA games really helps switch it up. Love your channel!

That's the coolest part of this game, that the hints are subtle. He's aboard but you can't see him in the hold... because you *are* him. Whenever you talk with the collector, in retrospect it's obvious that he's actually a figure in a mirror but most of us wouldn't spot that until afterwards, going back and looking for it. So well done.

I loved the art style, and the way you might almost mistake it for a comfy fishing game in the initial stages, if you had no prior information. I also have a soft spot for Lovecraftian cosmic horror, still a little bummed we never saw the end of the Sinking City back in the day, so anything you play with that kind of bent will hold my interest. I had hoped for more story, but cant have everything. I personally would love for you to do some real story heavy indie game again, thats how I landed here back in the day, but unfortunately you seem to enjoy these little games like Vampire Survivor, Domekeeper etc. much more right now. There is nothing wrong with these games or your playthroughs of them, but I would love to set the vibe again (RE4, Jedi Survivor etc. dont count there).

Well, the attraction of this game is of the same root as that of games like, e.g., 'The Darkest Dungeon'. Some kind of mystical post-apocalyptic world / community as a setting. Lovecraftian-mythos streak which manifests itself fairly early in the game. Music and sound which can make or break that sort of a game - and in this game sound and music are excellent in quality and cleverly designed. Also, the 'mundaneness' of the horror / mystique, also, the mythos of 20s-30s era (same as in Indiana Jones series). That said, could somebody explain or point me to the place in play-through, is there a resolution or explanation for the Mayor/dockyard worker storyline? Also, can you meet Leviathan in-game? And what happens if you go into the fog?

There are some definite "its all in your head" vibes throughout the way that people interact with you and the things you come across, so I can see how one might be able to put it all together with a few more hints from sidequests that you didnt go through. I'm not sure there's much value in doing it again on yiour channel. It was fun to watch but there isn't enough left for another playthrough to be entertaining to watch.
