I lived in England for four years 1989-1993 with the US Air Force at RAF Greenham Common. I sorely miss the old neighborhoods, the countryside, the walking paths and most of all the green and moss. I live in Kansas City now and most all of the older neighborhoods with wonderful old homes are crime ridden and only safe in the daylight hours. Of course the newer neighborhoods are safe but have no character whatsoever. Our summers are hot and humid. I miss the rain cooled days and yes, even the foggy days. I also miss the people of England who are standoffish at first but once you get to know them are friendly with a crazy-dry sense of humor.

@jeffsmith846: I lived in London for almost a year back in 1977 so I can relate to everything you said. I was able to do a lot of traveling around the UK and I really do miss it sometimes. I’ve been back, of,course, since then because every once in a while, I needed a “fix”. I miss the cooler weather (I live in NYC which can get very hot and humid in the summer), the shops on the high streets, the beautiful little villages, all the flowers and the greenery, and the delightful people. I feel very fortunate that I was able to spend so much time there.

The rain and your footsteps slowed me enough to really see the beauty of my surroundings. Then I heard the birds sing out their joy for the new day. I don’t know of any sound that is as soothing as that of water- whatever form it may take (excepting things like the sound of one’s basement flooding, or the splash of a sink overflowing onto the floor!). I never tire of hearing rain on the roof, or outside of the window- and I especially enjoy sitting on our front porch on rainy evenings. There isn’t any one thing I can isolate to comment on (though there certainly were specific things you passed that I noticed and liked), but I must say that I just enjoyed the whole mood of this walk as a unit. It conveyed such a peaceful sense of solitude- a quietly happy kind, and not a lonely type. Thanks for this lovely walk. :)
@OutandaboutWalking7 ай бұрын
Hi Janet. Lovely to hear from you today. I know just what you mean, the sound of rain on an old tin roof is probably my favourite water sound especially if there is the odd rumble of thunder in the distance. I’m not sure why but from a visual standpoint I am not really feeling this walk, it could be because to my eye there seems to be too much vertical bounce, having said that tho, I could happily go to sleep with sleep-phones on listening just to the audio, can’t really fault it… Thanks for your comment and time on this walk today. Hope Mr Ryan is doing well. All the best to you both. OAAW
@janetryan97797 ай бұрын
@@OutandaboutWalking I think every walk (at least on this channel) has some different positive thing to take away from it. This did not make my favorites list, but as I said, it did create a peaceful mood. In the world of music a piece that creates a certain image or impression is called a “tone poem” (as you probably already know), and I would call this walk the visual equivalent to a tone poem. :) I like thunder, too- as long as it remains a distant rumble. I must confess that having our house struck by lightning in 2022 greatly diminished my liking for storms! Thankfully, it did not start a fire, as it very well could have- but it damaged a bunch of stuff and was truly terrifying. My husband is okay, but faces yet another outpatient surgery this week. I will probably bring earbuds and be taking one of your walks as I sit in the surgical waiting room- again. OAAW has been in a lot of medical facilities around here! Thanks for asking. :)

@@OutandaboutWalking Yes, it was terribly scary…like being inside of a drum when a percussionist struck it with full force. We were at home when it occurred, and the entire house shook. Not fun at all! Thank you for your good wishes for my husband’s surgery. Have a great week! :)

Looks like an early spring or late winter in many places in the United States except for the quaint village surroundings. Late winter or early spring looks a lot like this in many places in the world. The benefit of this kind of day is it’s good for your respiratory system because of the moisture in the air and also good for the skin. An extremely dry and cold winter day makes you more vulnerable to respiratory illnesses and drys out your skin. If you don’t have to drive to work or go anywhere then it’s a great day to stay at home and cook up some chili or stew and invite a significant other over(of course have some decent wine handy). 😜

Saludos.❤❤❤

You can move to Boston if you have lots of money. Lived there 1986 to 1996. Lots of 🌫 fog. But winters too cold. Nice autumn and spring. Summers hot and humid. Lived in the city no air conditioning 3rd floor for 10 years. But the heat was good. Now it's very expensive. Live in the sunshine ☀ state now.😊

Where is it. It is much like lots of places in Ireland, where I live. Has a serene beauty in the rain. I would say those old houses could tell some stories.

Hi Raymond. This is Charlbury in West Oxfordshire, England. Yes, I would say so too… Thanks for your support.

Beautiful video. Why there is no one outside? Can you say how many people live there?

A very atmospheric walk. I hope you didn't get too wet? Do you use an umbrella? I've just started making walking videos and have not yet had to tackle rainy weather. I'm wondering whether I'll need to carry an umbrella as well as the camera!

Hello. I did get a little wet. Oh yes I used an umbrella. Certainly not a bad idea to carry an umbrella with you just In case. Wishing you all the best. OAAW

Did you hide the liscence plates by hand or did you use some AI tool? great vide enjoyed it. At the beginiing of the video I was wondering what the popping sound was and the realized it was sthe sound of rain on your rain coat

Hi Yosan. Thank you for your comment. Good to hear that you enjoyed this video. If only the vehicle license plates could be hidden with A.I technology. Each plate is tracked by hand and frame by frame, so with a camera setting of 30fps, one plate can take the best part of 30 mins to blur out. I probably spent the best part of 20 hours blurring out the plates in this video. As far as I know, I am the only walking channel on KZbin that does this. All the best to you and thanks again.
