If we turn the shaft of a small DC electric motor, it produces an electric current. It is direct current, not alternating, since it has brushes that change polarity when the motor or dynamo rotates.
We can find DC motors in toys, printers, disk drives, hair dryers, and other household appliances.
By turning the motors it is possible to turn on LEDs or move the needle of a voltmeter.
