My father joined the USAAF after the first semester of his junior year at Clemson University--in the 1940s Clemson was a military style college. Dad had signed up for the USAAF before he left Clemson for Christmas vacation. By the time the semester would have started after Christmas, he was already starting training. He was sent to England with the rest of the 401st BG and they were stationed in Deenethorpe. They took part in many missions, and dad was the bombardier.
