Bravo for this educational video. While I consider myself a very open-minded and accepting person, I don’t have anyone close to me who has transitioned so I find myself staying quiet so I don’t say the wrong thing. But I’m listening and leaning and am grateful for Ivy and others who are sharing their story. Beautiful like her momma! ❤❤

I’m like Michael about happiness I aim to just be and be grateful now that is something I have learnt at 62. I think Ivy, and other trans people, really are an asset to the world. They have gotten to grow up with one set of social norms put upon them and then have the chance to be part of the complete opposite side of the coin. What a wonderful way to be able to say "this isn't working for either side" and to have someone as open minded and intelligent as Ivy comes across, the world will only be a better place for having her and so many others like her.

So true about how we see ourselves. My father always acted like we were the prettiest and smartest. My mother put emphasis on the importance of what was inside our head, not in the mirror. Looking back, I think I looked gorgeous. Wish I had appreciated it in real time. But I faked self confidence like my life depended on it. Now I realize nobody cares, everybody is worried about themselves. We should be kinder to ourselves at every age.

Well done! I became a pseudo parent to a female to male Trans person 7 years ago. It's been a wild, terrifying, educational, wonderful experience. He was thrown out of his family before we met. I didn't understand anything about the Trans community. I didn't understand how this beautiful human wasn't a female. He educated me, I went to therapy, educated myself and it has become one of the most loving and valuable relationships I've ever had. Thank you for having the courage to do this openly. It means so much.

I just want to voice my love and support for this video and its message. I can see that Ivy is an old soul, and old souls often have hard journeys, as they’ve incarnated to help others learn lessons of compassion and empathy. It would be very interesting to see Ivy’s birth chart. 😊 I understand that decisions like the one Speaker Johnson made today come from a place of fear and separation (the root cause of all hateful actions). At the same time, that fear and prejudice is so alien to me. I would say to those who identify as Christians: If the Christ were asked about trans people using the gender bathroom with which they identify, he would ABSOLUTELY say they should be able to. We each have a different journey, but we are also all of one whole, and loving and supporting each other lifts up the consciousness of the whole world. I wish everyone could realize that.

Thanks so much for this! I'm 3 weeks into adapting to the news of having a trans young adult. They are finding their way, and we are so proud of them. I love, support, and believe them; and at the same time, I am unnerved by my fears that I don't understand being trans. It's a vulnerable place as a parent to be facing the unknown. I worked so hard to be strong and prepare my kid for the future and now it feels like the rules have changed, and I don't have any experience or strategies for that future. It's nice to see how much grace you have for each other.

This is such an incredibly valuable social service you are all doing in sharing these thoughts and experiences… I am really grateful for such bravery!❤️💕❤️🙏🏽Personally I have found the government’s cynical hijacking of such individual deeply personal experiences and problems for their own political purposes has been just terrible, really dreadful in fact, not just for the individuals and families getting through these very challenging and tough health issues, but for our society as a whole. They appear to be using a divide and conquer approach when it is actually our responsibility to come together as people and respect each other’s needs and our individual rights to be who or what we want to be. I don’t know why masculinity now has to be viewed as toxic when it is a naturally occurring state, it is terrible… it is very clear that what is needed is to exercise tolerance for our fellow man and go back to Christian principles to love our neighbours as ourselves. That means all our neighbours warts and all. That would pretty much solve everything. I wish you all light and love and a very happy and healthy holiday season! From Melbourne Australia 🦘🐨🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
@PrairieDawnC12 күн бұрын
Masculinity is not toxic. Unfortunately, though, there are a small minority of men who spread toxicity about how to "really" be a man and -- frankly-- how to abuse men who aren't like them and women they want to control.

Well that was just beautiful to see 😍. Ivy you are so fortunate to have such loving and supportive parents. You are such an eloquent and well spoken, level headed young person, your parents can be super proud of the wonderful human they have raised. My daughter is about to turn 10, and she up until now talks to us about everything, I know when something is bothering her because she comes up to me and buries her head into my torso, she gets a big hug and a kiss on top of her head and then I ask if she wants to talk to me? Sometimes she just needs the physical closeness of mom, but eventually she always opens up, i hope that as she grows up and I became less important in her life, that she will always feel comfortable talking to me.
