For whatever it's worth I don't think "I love you" has to be something that is limited to being between people who have a deep, intimate understanding of one another. I tell my friends "I love leo vader" all the fuckin time without it having any sort of romantic or even personal component, just as a rough shorthand for "my life is better for the part he plays in it." Even though we have no greater relationship, I mean it every time. Thank you for sharing this with us!

ngl as a longtime markiplier fan (who is about the same age as him, which puts me a bit older than the average demographics and significantly older than the stereotype of his viewers), i was bracing for getting the usual lambasting when i was just coming to the table for a new video from a creator i'm a relatively new subscriber to, so thanks for at least acknowledging that fans of all kinds of creators can view them critically, or as positive experiences that don't tax our mental wellbeing to enjoy. it's very easy to label fans of a thing you don't personally like as completely uncritical, easily swayed and cultlike, but it's also lazy, so i appreciate taking the time to unpack that impulse lol

Pointing a PNG of a gun at a file of family photos is such a great visual joke. This was very weird but deeply engaging and funny. I'm glad to know that maybe the tiny, practically insignificant support I give has in part helped to encourage you to keep doing what you're doing, if for no other reason than getting to see a man in a computer point a picture of a gun at a file.

I feel as if there needs to be a clearer distinction in the discourse between parasocial *interaction* (which is what most everyone does when engaging in content from a creator that is a bit distanced from them) and parasocial relationships (where after repeated parasocial interaction, someone develops “illusions of intimacy, friendship, and identification.”) Feeling emotion from art a creator you appreciate by itself isn’t a parasocial relationship. Neither is feeling emotions when a creator you like goes through something. That’s just being a fan. It becomes a parasocial relationship when one begins to identify with a creator in a more intimate way than the one sided nature would allow. Care and empathy spring up everywhere for humans, we even feel sympathy towards inanimate objects, I think that’s pretty neat! I really love that this video dissects the way we approach our boundaries online, and explores the way we consume art from the creators we admire. Anyway, all this to say: Love ya!
@imsmolandangery4274 Жыл бұрын
The hosts of Kill James Bond have a recurring joke where they turn the outtro into "we love you and we are all single" and "you look really nice today y/n" that I think explores the paranormal nature of the medium (me simulating having friends on my lunch break). Always Sunny bloopers is an abs workout, hysterical. The reason why their improvisation works is because when someone adds something off script, they stop rolling and work it into the scene.
