This is a great book. A true spiritual classic. In fact, I think it says that on the back of the book. My teacher recommended that it should be read in little bites. I've read it several times, and it's fresh every time. Hearing you read from it brings back many fond memories of my teacher who based many of his teisho's on Nisargadatta teachings. I also love what he said when someone asked him who they were. He said, "You are the absolute supreme, the unblemished potential." We all know that "the" truth is impossible to put into words. However this person feels that "Unblemished potential" is as close as one can get.

I tell folks that “if you want the straight juice on this experience, follow Nisargadatta.” Him and ramana pointed me right to it. Peace peace

This powerful direct pointing of Nisargadatta tends to destabilize those who need to grasp a belief, concept, experience or philosophy. He is very much like the early Chinese Chan masters. 🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏼

Brad, from what you just read there, I have ordered this book; the truth of it was deeply profound. I really appreciate how you are able to branch out of your own comfort zone in the pursuit of wisdom; a great lesson to all.

Awesome video Brad. Have you ever heard of the Ashtavakra Gita? Short great vadanta book. Would be cool to hear your take on it.

The Heart of Awareness version of the Ashtavarka Gita by Thomas Byrom is a great and easily readable version. More sutra-like than long philosophical dissertation!

I've been working through that text. Good text and profound chapter. I like how in the end you say this good but should be approached with caution. Maybe, you should've opened with a huge radioactive style banner that said "Caution" or something similar. Thank you for the video. Now back to basic survival... tea! Ha!

Dániel Remete This Nisargadata always sounds to me like an extremist of absolute view point and I have the impression that he is overemphasizing emptiness. In Zen, we say, sickness of KU. What do you think about this?

Truth is, the truth cannot be described, but it can be known as the taste of existence itself, I cannot share existence ,you have to experience it yourself.

Great take on trying to get on the fast track to enlightenment! In my opinion, Nisargadatta can lure you into the path of spiritual materialism, the path of the Gyani ( or Jnanni, depending on how you want to spell the translation)... or maybe some other secret third option I don't know about ;)

Loved this one - and that book - ugh! Like the Heart Sutra - you could spend a lifetime only reading and studying and sitting with it - and probably never “absorb “ even 1/3 of it. It’s fully transcendent.

Reading this sometimes it worries me that I'm only copying what he would say, or Intellectualy get it, but far from experientially getting it. Like I'm just mocking true understanding by looking at the back of the math book for the answers. Also might be one of my favorite videos, thanks.

Right, I know that feeling. May be that helps: The Buddha advised that kind of "fourfold practice" - (1) listen/reading; (2) remembering and repating; (3) thinking it over; (4) realizing it in your way. Well, the effect you mentioned must just be the effect of the second part of the studying...

Thanks. Maybe sometimes it is better not to have a lot of time to think it out and prepare and just set it out there. It's funny to me that I cant really "explain" any thing you read, but everything sounded real. I knew what he would say at times and that was probably just from being exposed to this channel and more in life. Other statements were surprises. All ring true, but I am not sure why.

True. Zen and Buddhism are social, historical conventions. Siddhartha Gautama did not teach Buddhism. We need to go beyond to get anywhere near what he taught.
