Okay, it's a show that doesn’t go through with the revenge angle. I like it.

This story was very painful to watch. I felt so bad for Danny and what his father put him through. The ending of the story was surprising.

If the dad was afraid of the outside why was he outside?
@Mangolite17 күн бұрын
He's fearful for his son, not himself. He doesn't want to lose the boy like he lost his wife. Mental health issues are a factor here. Despite his efforts, Danny is maturing, and the passing years have worn down the old man. He can no longer maintain the facade he built to shield his son. Eventually, he acknowledges his need for assistance but is unwilling to face the consequences of child abuse, so he commits the ultimate act. Therefore, he reaches out to his sister to assume responsibility.

The most unbelievable part is owning a Border Collie and keeping it chained up without training it to work, that's what they live for, we used to have several, and they LOVED getting out and watching the sheep and cows and goats and laying around keeping an eye out and running each other in circles playing. They NEED to run free or they would get nervous, they have a seemingly unlimited amount of energy. Could walk out and say "Hup Hup!" and they'd have 600 head of cows herded into the pen-field in about 5 mins, and then to have it killing your sheep, which is like, their bred-in instinct to protect. Dudes a pretty piss-poor farmer.

I believe the dog scenario symbolizes a key aspect of the narrative. The farmer possessed a capable dog, yet he failed to train it for the task at hand. Similarly, Danny could have had a fulfilling life, but his father sheltered him from the world due to his own fears. Both the farmer and the father were flawed individuals. However, while the farmer eventually came to terms with his shortcomings and attempted to reconcile with them, the father opted to evade his guilt and shirk his responsibilities.
