A few essentials and a bit of art

Richard and Julia are starting to explore essential oils for mind and body so here we check out our first order and the beginnings of our kit. We have also been drawing lately, for various reasons but mostly for fun, so we show some of those and talk about having 'sat' for a professional artist at the latter end of last year.

I remember when growing up we had an open fire and often burnt pine logs, but it they spit now and again, so a fire guard was an essential. Also especially after Sunday lunch and Christmas dinners, mum would put any meat waste, like bones, gristle, skin etc, on the back of the fire. We would sit by the fire listening to the BBC Light Programme, TV had limited broadcasting back then. Happy Days.

As a demi vegetarian I have quite often suffered itchy arms apparently Itchy arms could be caused by a vitamin B deficiency or an allergic reaction to a vitamin B supplement, with me it is obviously the lack of vitamin B, I hope that this is helpful.

Love watching you two bouncing off eachother, very entertaining. I just lost my little Mojo, a tortoiseshell kitty who made it to 19 years of age, very loving and trouble free with only ever one visit to the vet. When he got his thermometer out, Im sure thats the moment she decided she wouldnt be getting ill again... !

Lavender oil in a sweet almond oil carrier in a roll n applied to the neck & moustache area for a relaxing nights sleep.

Hi Richard and Julia, aha Essential Oils, yes my other half makes up blends to great effect for arthritis for one. But yes you definitely need to use a carrier oil as Julia pointed out as some essential oils can be very strong and you could burn the skin! I'll be interested to hear how you get on. I thought your drawing that both of you did was fantastic, and those portraits that were done of you were great! So erm talking of reading books, Richard, you were half way through a book on another Channel coughs loudly... ?? 😅... yeah I know it didn't get the views, bloomin' shame though! Anyway, thank you, as always for another entertaining episode, take care both of you, catch you again soon.

I’m guessing your essential oil book is the one called The Fragrant Pharmacy? I trained in Aromatherapy about 35 years ago. Extraction of the Essential Oils are either steam distillation or solvent extracted. The absolute part means the Essential oil has been solvent extracted. Then the solvents are removed so we are just left with the aroma part of the extraction. My favourite oil is steam-distilled Damascus Rose… the price of that oil is extremely high but omg it’s truly beautiful. At around £50+ for a teaspoon, you have to make it last 😧Lavender is also another favourite of mine and extremely versatile. Just be careful on the amounts you use either in a mix with whatever carrier oil you choose for the job or neat, as drops in the bath. Best to sniff the Essential oil whist still in its bottle. I have a bad reaction to essential oils of Basil, Geranium and Ylang Ylang. Others have no problem with any of those ones. It’s our own chemical makeup that determines what we can use and what to avoid. Much love to the both of you 🌞

@Nellyontheland I think you will find that any pressure treated wood carries chemicals such arsenic which is toxic in woodsmoke. Look it up.

@@catherinesengupta4699 The old decking had been sitting around without any more treatment for about 15 years. I think it'll be fine 💚💙💜
