Ahh sorry i get to this a bit late! Great to see you present Auerbach. I’ve been enjoying Mimesis VERY much, thank you again. And at least one viewer of my channel bought it because I mentioned it. Endless ripples!

The idea that I got to introduce someone whom you're finding so enriching has me giddy, even all these months later. I love those endless ripples lapping up against our book-reading boats: "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

Great selection! The Paul Hazard and the Civil War social history book sound especially intriguing.

Nice finds! It's hard to pick one that interests me most since you have several different topics covered. "Primitive Man" and "Thirty Years War" especially caught my attention though.

I have that 30 years war book as well... it was the only one i could find about the 30 years war, strangely. I look forward to reading it since you say she’s a good historian.

I think you'd really enjoy her trilogy on the English Revolution ("The King's Peace," "The King's War," and "The Trial of Charles I"). If you end up reading her at all, leave me a note and let me know what you think!

Great set of books! Very enticing. I looked up Paul Hazard and I think I’ll get into his work sooner or later, thanks to you.

Now that's something I'd certainly be interested in reading together. Let me know if you ever order it. It's one of I know I have easy access to, because it's not packed away in a storage shed somewhere. It's right on top of my desk!

Crisis of the European Mind looks important.

Yes, I've seen Hazard's name cited in countless books of intellectual history, but just recently realized that NYRB had reissued something of his.
