A good chat and backdrop Marc. I as well as others certainly can appreciate your channel hence why I subscribed. Also appreciate you not dancing and waving your arms for those needing ritalin to stay focused or engaged LOL. Linking shorts to your longer content is the smart way to continue however. I think you nailed it regarding predictability with your weekly content robbing you of viewers so come on people please subscribe as it costs nothing. This includes established outdoor youtubers that I know watch this channel to learn your tips and tricks. Keep up the great work Marc and perhaps release your videos on a less predictable schedule but with community posts. All the best to you!

Props on getting a video out every week, I know non tubers may not understand, but its real work to make / edit a video once a week. Especially for us "hobbyists". lol editing hell, sometimes its easy (when there is good video to work with) sometimes its a real pain :) Yay Shop Videos !

Hi Marc, one of my favourite channels on KZbin, I really enjoy your channel. I love the fishing part, and how good of a fishermen you are. For me if you gave a brief set up on what you're using when fishing, lure, line, etc. be appreciated, but I understand if it's not your channel is about. I'm a novice camper and I learn so much from your videos.

Hey Coach, fishing is 100% an outdoorsman's sport and you are in luck as I am planning a video or maybe a few videos on some basic fishing tactics etc... Here is one of my videos to get you started. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n16YZHttbNJoabcsi=m5Iu-Awza3Mx-fNb Thanks Coach✌️

Marc, Love all your content in relation to canoeing and fishing. I also enjoy hearing your perspective on how and why you do things. So not only am I entertained, I learn something as well. As far as length of vid....if its a shop vid I like 10 to 20 mins, if its a camping vid I like 30 to 45 mins. Though I think there's something with the KZbin logarithm that gets you more views if the vid is over an hour. Regardless, I'm just glad I get to come along on all these adventures with you! Cheers! 🍻

Hi Marc. I hear ya about how KZbin promotes certain videos and lets others die. You're right about having a focused niche. When I started my channel I wanted to cover it all: Carpentry, mechanical, small repairs, big ones, outdoor content, humor......the works. But I'm here to say that without a certain focus, my channel has suffered. I'm learning, just as you are what works and what doesn't. For example, the most watched videos I have are car repair videos, bar none! They are carrying me. I've tried other things (and probably still will) but car repair videos seem to be my niche. I worked really hard making and posting some flooring videos a few years ago and they died in the embers! Hardwood flooring--Nope, Under-floor heating--NOPE, Tiling--Nope, Drywall repairs--Nope, Stream-side Flowers--Nope! Talking to roadside Alpacas--Nope....all of these videos were a loss. KZbin is always suggesting that I make more Shorts too and while I have posted some, they are often unrelated to my main focus or didn't fit into the thread of music related dance Shorts that bracketed my Shorts as they came up in KZbin--so they died too! Sorry to say, that I am one of those guys who makes a few mentions as a reminder for viewers to Subscribe, but I can't really say for certain if that's the reason anyone has. I find that videos I post sometimes only get a following after several months (or years). So I still (perhaps incorrectly) hope that some that I've worked so hard at will some day blossom. But I've never been much of a gardener, so what do I know? I see some channels that have a singular focus and watch them fly! And while that is so removed from the crazy spin of a million different things at once that is happening in my shed, it is probably the way to get somewhere on KZbin. I could learn from that....But I'm not much for studying trends---Blah. I'm more of a seat-of-the-pants guy that does stuff that pops into my head instead of on some strict programming. So maybe I'll just be the same, winning some and losing some but being me nonetheless even though channels like Open Air Outdoors will go to the Moon and back!! (with 50,000 new subscribers a month, with Riley wearing pure Gold collars, etc....) Great topic and fireside chat, Marc. All the Best!!!

I could have gone on and on with the chat but I probably would have ended up hurting feelings😆 My top videos are all the gun related stuff with the top one being over 110 000 views current. I really don't want to "niche down" on that! I'll stick to the great outdoors in general and just keep plugging away at it! But thank you for the heads up on alpacas! I guess the alpaca whisperers have that market covered🤣 Thanks for all that you do Craig🍻
@EverydayProjects4 ай бұрын
@@OpenAirOutdoors Yes, there's no need to try to outperform the many "whisperers" out there. The Alpacas I talked to, looked briefly at me and walked briskly away, unimpressed!

Howdy Marc- I haven’t completely understood the algorithm on KZbin yet. My wife does all the smart stuff for our channel. I have never in my life turned a computer on. I love watching your videos of the wilderness trips and enjoy it through your experiences because I’m staying so busy with my work. For most part I have been getting all your notifications for a video. I’ve had different people tell me they aren’t getting them for our videos. You always have top notch content and I certainly enjoy watching whatever you post. I really enjoyed the fire side chat. Best wishes for your endeavors for your channel. God bless

Hello my great friend. The outdoors is the main food for the soul, it reborns the spirit and gives you an extra boost in your physical health. I think all your changes are very correct. I liked all your previous content but sometimes a change or ratio of strategies is necessary to fulfill the goal of your videos reaching more people to cultivate their love for the outdoors as their main purpose. All your videos will be welcome here with coyote. With you I have known very beautiful places that I did not think existed. THANKS AND BLESSINGS ALWAYS TO YOU👍🏼👍🏼🌵🌵🌞🌞

Great content, Marc. I appreciated hearing your insights in your KZbin experience. In response to your requests, I prefer videos that max out around 20 minutes or so, but that's just one person's opinion. I struggle with 'shorts' too. I also detest Facebook but I'm an inconsistent user of IG and Tiktok. But I don't dance either. 😂 Great fireside chat. Keep up the great work. 👍👍

Hi Marc, Thanks for all the updates. I like where you're going with the channel. However, I will miss the MRE reviews . Haynes was nice threads, lmao. You know you're not going to get something that disintegrates in the wash when you get that brand. As for video length, personally since I try to watch the channels that support me, my attention span usually crashes around the 10-minute mark. It's quite hard for me to spend 30+ minutes on a video when I follow back so many channels. For me personally, I dont watch Shorts much, but like you said, I get good growth in subscriber numbers from them. Moreso then a typical longform video. Funny, I connected with you on Instagram today, before hearing how you are asking people to DM. Watched this one rully, brother! Keep at 'er and congrats on 2K!
