I love Mr. Ballen! If you haven't seen his video about his own personal ghost experience you have to check it out. It was extremely creepy. Also he tells a story called "Bells Canyon" (which is the last story in his video called "Top 3 Scariest True Stories - Spooky Stories part 2) which is one of the scariest stories I've heard. About a man being stalked through the woods while he's hiking by this crazy guy. I like solo camping and hiking but I can't imagine experiencing something like that.

Gabby! Have you tried the John dies at the end series? I think you’re technically supposed to read them in order but I read This Book Is Full Of Spiders and What The Hell Did I Just Read first haha. Which is the second and third book I haven’t read the first one haha! These books are creepy and super funny! David and John have such a funny friendship! Funny Cosmic Horror! Yes Please!!!! Maybe these will give you what you are looking for when you talk about these funny horror books not giving you enough? I’m very interested to see if you’d like this series!
