It's really grown since my Bride and I tent camped there in April 49 years ago on our honeymoon. We were near the old hwy and had both the ocean and bay side beaches to ourselves for the most part. Thanks for the tour.

We just returned from Key West. I'm retired military so we stayed at the Sigsbee RV Park just off the coast of Key West. It's part of Key West Naval Air Station and cost $34 per night with no tax. We were 1.2 miles from downtown Key West.

0:22 How many different bridge engeers did Henery Flagler have build the railway from Miami to Key West? A great book on this is the Last Train To Paridace bt LesLast Train to Paradise by Les Standiford. Build the train tracks by floating cities, great story... Then the Hurricane hit. Also, another great Florida book is the A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith. 👍👍👍👍

Great video. So many memories. Back in the early 90's we towed our family cruiser boats down to the keys and spent three days right there at the docks. Way more developed now but still my favorite spot in the keys. People were shocked if they noticed our MN registration on the boats. Glad you guys got a beach day. Great sand there.

We stayed at Honda state. It’s a slice of heaven tough to get in. I got lucky while we were in the keys by going on line and saw a few nights open.

There is a book about the Flagler project that I got from pigeon key. Great reading on the history of an ambitious man. You can now ride or walk on the old bridge to pigeon key. It wasn’t open yet when we were there and we used a boat tour to get there. Highly recommend.

If you want to see another Flagler gem, go to St. Augustine and take a tour of Flagler College. He had Tiffany design much of the interior.

Nice video! We stayed at BH SP in mid December on site 30 (not waterfront) and this is one of the nicest parks in FL but you are correct, the road noise is constant and does detract somewhat from the experience. Sandspur Beach, IMO, is the nicest beach in the Keys because many of the beaches there can be rocky (although some do prefer that). Getting into BH can be almost impossible and we used a service called Arvie and got a spot in about 4 weeks. The Buttonwood section is really the only one that can accommodate larger RV's because Bayside has a height limit of 6; 8" and Sandspur can only accommodate rigs up to 23 feet.

Permits are required if disrupting others enjoyment or park resource protection. 😊

It's pronounced "Bay a Honda". Starting Jan 2024 all Florida residents get a 1 month advantage to book Florida state parks, over non Florida residents. It will be impossible for any out of state residents to book a campsite at any of the Florida Keys state park campgrounds. I know, I booked exactly 11 months ahead (to the second) in April 2022 for March 2023, and it was almost impossible. I lucked out and got a reservation with the help of some back door hacking of the reservation service. But now, that's changed, and the window is now 10mos advance for non residents, and 11 months in advance for Florida resident. So good luck thinking you have a chance to book a campsite at Bahia Honda if you're not a Florida resident. It just won't happen.
