Lovely song. Elvis's voice was more bell-like in his 20's compared to in his 30's more than a decade later when it was fuller which tends to be the case with most singers. Also, rehearsal isn't the same as a recording and in this case, Elvis was just having a good time; he wasn't putting his whole self into the song. Irrespective, the 1970 rehearsal version was a fun watch; Elvis looked like he was having fun. Both versions were great.

I love the 1958 version, Elvis' voice does what it wants and I am in love with the Elvis-Jordanaires couple. I love seeing it in rehearsal so much and just having fun. I wouldn't choose between my two children 😊

I love the 1958 recording but I think if Elvis had gotten serious about the 1970 version it would have been great. He was just rehearing and having fun with it. I love the low notes.

Soy de México y el el 2022 con ka película de Elvis de Austin Butler.. empecé a buscar canciones de Elvis.. me quedé como idiota si darme cuenta que las canciones que escuché en los sesentas de cantantes de México que se hicieron muy famosos .. y que yo amaba eran canciones del Rey de li hermosísimo Elvis Presley... OMG Elvis Presley es el hombre más talentoso y hermoso que ha caminado por este planeta.

The 1958 version is an all-time classic. It's fun to hear him mess around with it in 1970, but he doesn't sing it well here. But again, he's just screwing around. It's fun.

Of all the myriad pop , rock and country recordings that I;ve heard by countless artists , there's only five that I've assessed as perfect ( 10 out of 10) . This one , his 1958 "A Fool Such As I" is one of those .

Elvis voice changed over the years it got deeper that’s why he mostly sung newer songs when he returned to the stage that suited his more mature voice but the 58 version is beautiful just shows you the vocal abilities he possessed and were undervalued in the 60s during his movie period as the movies got worse so did the songs !

A versão 58 foi pra valer, chegou a #1, enquanto ele estava na Alemanha. A de 70 foi apenas um ensaio, acho que não foi apresentada no palco do IH. Mas tudo que vem de Elvis é ótimo.

I sang this song at the Saint Mary's church Festival 🎎 back in 1999 er 2000 . They had open mic 🎙️ and I closed the night with that song. Lots of fun 😊 .

I love both versions but partial to the 1970 rehearsal one because he is playing his electric guitar and you can definitely hear it loud on parts, always thought elvis gave greater performances on songs when he was banging away on his acoustic and especially the electric. The August 11th or 12th midnight show when he sat and strapped on the electric was magical, best was Little Sister/Get Bavk medley

He still had full command of the song in the 70s, but the accompaniment of the Jordanaires in 1958 was so much more accomplished especially the guitar instrumental break which was so inventive compared to the 1970 version which just repeated the melody.

The 1958 version, leaves the later one, many times over, sounds like James Burton, was not able to produce the Guitar sound, from Hank Garland, on the original 58 version, really James Burton never found the great Guitar stuff, that he produced with Ricky Nelson .
