Cor, takes me back. My dad had a 48 prefect with the headlights separate to the wings., I think Channel Green (light colour). Took our family of four everywhere Including holidays to Cornwall in the late 50s early 60s. Where on earth did we put all the luggage? lol

When my dad bought a car for me to drive to school in Boulder, Colorado 1959, he said it was a '49 model. The badging said "Prefect" but it had left-hand-drice (built for export to the United States). It had a bumper sticker on it that said, "It wasn't Sanforized." The slow operation of the windshield/windscreen wipers really brought back memories!

Wow, great memories, Thank you for sharing, yes the vac windscreen wipers are just about useless, lol, amazed they were allowed to be fitted...

@@fourwheelswobble I think vehicles - pickup trucks at least - continued to be built in the United States until the late 1950s. My personal opinion is that such safety features as electric windshield/windscreen wipers shouold be fitted in response to consumer demand - not government mandates. My 1950 Plymouth had vaccum-powered wipers and they worked much better than those on my Ford Prefect.

Just a heads up. I got a badly strained wrist many years ago courtesy of a Morris 8E when it backfired. I was trying to start it with a starting handle and not keeping my thumb along side my finger instead I had it round the handle.Ouch1

My first car was a 1948 Prefect painted olive green used to rock in strong wind due to cross springing.🙂

Yes transfere leaf springs, like a boat in the wind, lol, we have fitted panhard stabilising rods back & front, still dodgy on the bends tho...

@@LVSHELP Only thing l can advise is that these were popular on Morris minor & Mini, so search using that but don't get ripped off, people ask stupid money for them now, l converted mine with the wood slats you see, kept the price down
