Major red flags 🚩: Meeting an East/North African stranger for a job in Sandton & them requesting a certified ID copy. This Kenyan guy committed identity theft & the victim shouldn't have a criminal record. He can get it expunged with a lawyer's help which might cost him some dough though. Legal advice can also help him fight for compensation. But major shoutout to his loyal girlfriend, she a real one! Justice for Eric!

@@shonaboy7554 The Kenyan man and the bank teller have likely committed: identify theft, forgery, and exploitation of a minor. Using someone's ID without their consent is identity theft, even if they are physically present. Consent is key. The fact that the victim was physically present when the ID was used doesn't negate the crime. The victim's understanding of what was happening, their age, and any coercion involved are all factors that would be considered by law enforcement and the courts.

Financial institutions should be held accountable for allowing people to be registered with just an ID copy for anything. I mean anyone can fall prey to this. We are always asked for our ID for almost everything like banks for instance and they sometimes make copies of these. Who knows some of their employees can sell our identities easily. It's an untraceable crime. When it comes to confirming ID there are apps and sites that allow the person to take a photo and short video of a person along while holding their IDs to confirm who they are. I hope someone sues these institutions.

Thank you for sharing and enlightening our South African people not to trust foreigners, the same way you don't trust you next door neighbour worse off a foreigner. You nedd to learn to listen to your gut feeling as Eric his gut feeling told him something was wrong when meeting the Kenyan guy in his car and also signing those forms. I wished he could have quickly thought of going to the police and also going to all those bank branches to close those bank accounts. Also your challenging situation of unemployment shouldn't allow you to put in a vulnerable situation to end up being a prey of criminals. Remember majority of rich foreigners acquired their wealth from drug trafficking, and other criminal activities they commit in South Africa.

Listening to this young main depicts SA state of affairs. Look at how swift and decisive the law moved against him. Also a complete waste of state resources during the arrest, all in the name of protecting private wealth (possibly claimed from insurance already). Im not against law enforcement but we should be equal in the eyes of law. Why dont we see same energy when people complain about drug lords in their communities, people selling expired goods, gangsters etc? Mainly why dont we see this energy against powerful politicians (Nqakula, Kodwa, Gwede, Cyril etc)? Powerful politicians roaming around after Zondo Commission and some still occupying state positions. White and corrupt faking death and getting away with literally murder.
