A FOREVER BIKE; 1997 Harley Davidson XL1200C Sportster Custom

I bought mine in the fall of 1996. I had to wait for the 1997 models to become available. They first made this bike in 96. So just a year later, people would think that I did a lot of work to it. Not used to the "custom" Sportster. I have mine still today. Done a lot like this one, chrome upper, lower belt guards & sprocket cover is a must. It goes so well with chrome engine. My first & only Harley, I love it. I will never forget the ride home, I took back roads because I didn't have a bike license back then. I got lost & didn't even care. Ride safe, go slow in any traffic areas. Those cars aren't paying attention and will take you out.

I have the same bike. The paint is Patriot Red Pearl. I got mine new in September of 1996. At that time I had to give the dealership a $100 deposit to get on a waiting list for a new bike. I did the same thing to mine new. A red Screaming Eagle coil Air box 6800 rpm ignition module. I'll never get rid of my Sportster either. My nephew will inherit it when I'm gone. That bike you have is SWEET. You can tell he loved it.

I have a 97 883 with a 1200 kit. Less than 20k on the bike, not just th3 rebuild. It was originally red like this too. Dark green now. I don't care what people say about sportys..They're fun bikes.

@MuddyFenders hell yeah. mines a hugger too. I have screaming eagles on it so it sounds decent also. My dad always told me that loud pipes save lives. I've found that to be true more than once. Just a fun bike all around. You can stand em up pretty easily too. I saw a couple of stunt builds with them recently, but I think I'm keeping this one as is. It was originally my dads bike so it's kinda sentimental. I can always get another one to modify if I want to.

I have a 1997 HD Sportster 1200 XLH , forever bike , mine is clean but that is immaculate, He loved that Bike , most reliable Harley I ever owned

I got a 2009 1200 custom got every thing on it tach fuel gauge screaming eagle stage 2 new tires a lot of chrome LED head light with signals to tinted live to ride derby covers acsell plug wires mustang seat I'm the 3rd owner that bike is realy nice wish mine was carbarated not fan of tge fuel injection

evo sportys were 4 speeds from 86 to 92 then they gave u the 5 gear. i hated my 89 cause it rattled ur bones that 5 gear helps a lot...

Now THAT is what a Sportster should look like. Bright shiny paint, bright unpainted aluminum, and LOTS of chrome. H-D completely ruined it with that disgustingly ugly Iron model. It makes me sick just to look at that abomination. Nothing but a flat black BLOB.
