A frame houses always have that storybook look to them. I love this combination of an A frame and standard gable. If I lived somewhere with snow I could see the A frame being helpful.

This form is so easy to construct for beginning Framers or even for a quick cheap subdivision housing !

Can you do a video that shows how to frame a bump-out a long wall of an a-frame (like a dormer or double pitch roof) to increase vertical wall space? Thanks so much for your videos!

I have a garage connected to my house. Above the garage the rafters connect to the roof slope. I want to know if it is possible to cut an opening in the slope of the house roof to connect the two attics?

I'm guessing you have a fire rated wall separating your house from the garage. If you do then you can't cut through that section, but maybe the other section, if that make sense.

Yes, it's true - I didn't like the previous roof design. It seemed unnecessarily complicated with that mini-cricket roof, creating too many ridges and valleys that would need complicated flashing and sealing. This design is much better, but why the high gable on the garage? Yes, it's nice to have some storage space up in a loft but stylistically it competes with the form of the A-frame cabin and it seems to need a lot more framing material than required. Why not a 6:12 pitch instead or better yet, calculate the required pitch based on the length of a full size piece of plywood? I seem to remember you made a video on doing that some time ago.

Good points and you can apply all of your design ideas to this type of construction, especially the use of full width sheathing to calculate roof pitch. Here's a link to the roof framing and sheathing video for those interested - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZa4aX-eaa2IkLM
