Being without water is no joke. We were without water and electricity after Hurricane Katrina. Water service was restored after three days; electricity after two weeks. The first three days were infinitely more difficult than the eleven that followed.

It's good to see your spirits have lifted a bit this month. After the unfortunate events last month you were visibly upset in almost every video. Having Frieda helps I'm sure.

That Jupiter quote made me stop and think, you explain what you mean about history really well

I've read almost all of Georgette Heyer's books. I enjoyed them and have reread quite a few. My favorite changes - right now it's Venetia.

...these "reads videos" are sending me broke; I've downloaded 7 books already, two of which I've enjoyed immensely, 5 more to go! Thanks so much for your company over the year!

I am surprised to hear you weren't aware of Catherine Nixey. Her first book caused a bit of controversy in Britain. It was called The Darkening Age and was an anti-Christian polemic about the Christian destruction of pagan temples, art, etc. Some academics came out and questioned the thoroughness of her research, but it was a really enjoyable read.

I'm reading Woodwards new book "War". Kind of disappointed by his writing style lately. It's just kind of bland. Oatmeal prose, I call it. Dry oatmeal too, without the almond milk and brown sugar. For fiction I'm rereading Since we Fell by Lehane. I remember really liking it the first time I read it but I felt like I missed some of the key plot elements so the payoff didn't pack enough punch, I guess.
