talking about partial upgrades for those who are newer you sould avoid running pacman -Sy if you sync with the mirror you should also update to prevent dependency issues

Just to be clear @2:40 even if not updating regularly it is ok to install a new package (for instance zsh with pacman -S zsh), there is no risk of partial upgrade. This only happens when updating an existing package. Unfortunately the command is the same in both case (pacman -S zsh). You would risk though not having the very last version of that package.

Great explantion of pacman. Sometimes i use Rsu. Side note you should mention when updating arch linux comes out with a new iso every month
@BreadOnPenguins3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! The ISO is only needed for initial installation, or if you have to go back and fix something down the line - while it's worth keeping a copy around and relatively up-to-date, it's not the sort of thing where you'll need to be worried about updating to each new version. But thanks for mentioning :)

There’s also the ‘checkupdates’ command from the ‘pacman-contrib’ package that you can use to safelly see what packages have new releases (non AUR). Also ‘yay -Qu’ to check for AUR only package updates. Combine both commands in a bash script for convenience.

You should definitely give a hand to Hyprland that's just gem for me. By the way your setup looking cool with suckless dwm :) and thanks for this super awesome tutorial!.
@BreadOnPenguins2 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! Yup I've heard plenty about Hyprland, personally I prefer minimal and simple, but Hyprland is aesthetically awesome lol. Thanks so much, and no problem!

I created a script called package-manager aliased to pm. With pm -i = 'paru -Slq | fzf -q "$1" -m --preview 'paru -Si {1}' | xargs -ro paru -S''

Good video for beginners. I would have added the mirrors and reflector. This is a huge problem for beginners who don't set their mirrorlist properly when some repos inevitably become unreachable during an update.
@BreadOnPenguins2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! Mirrors and updating using reflector was actually the first thing I talked about, at around 1:00 - though I do also suggest in my Arch installation video to run reflector before pacstrap.

In this video it's razer blackwidow v4 yellow switches, but I actually stopped using that due to switches failing, and went back to a very old corsair w/ cherry reds.
