@@pkeane8098 can personally verify on both the original cart as well as pretty much every emulator and re-release. There are multiple places you can do this, but specifically in SMB3 world 1-3 if you crouched on a white block just before the blackout ending for 3-5 seconds, Mario would go behind all the blocks and bushes and even behind the black-out curtain into a hidden Toad House area where he'd get one of 3 warp whistles in the game.

In Mario 3 the white platform thing is intentional, it was how you get a warp whistle. In Mario Maker they added the mini jump as an Easter egg.

5:27 I believe the cape actually makes you like a pixel or so taller, and the one way gate pushes you downward unless you crouch, which only takes damage once from the lava because of it being the same underneath the character adding more to the hitbox, then after you take damage it won’t anymore

Its a reference to Bowser's similar animation from Super Mario Bros 1 All Stars where he does that upon the player destroying the bridge he was standing on.

Not sure if anyone did say it, but for the bullet bill water level, when you are floating in the water, you're not on ground, so when you're not facing a wall, just boost. You don't have to jump in order to boost, you just need to be in the air.

DGR I think the reason the white block does that is just a throwback to SMB3 original. We all know in that game you'd go through the block into the background but since that was removed in SMM it just does that little hop to say...yeah we acknowledge this and here's a little hop so you know we do :)
