I just got done taking a Throw Barb through Normal-Hell and it’s been a good experience. Easier leveling than any of Barb I’ve played for the most part. You will run into damage issues around level 55-67 as you’re starting Hell, until you can use a Lacerator and Demon’s Arch, unless you fill in the gap with dual Scalpers. Attack speed is a large part of the damage coming from the build, so a Treachery, IAS gloves, and Frenzy gives significant mileage until you can transition from A2 Might Merc to A1 Fire Merc with A Faith bow for Fanaticism Aura. Personally I’ve been treating this build as a better Travincal Farmer and have been building it as such with IK helm, War Travs / IK boots, Nagel / Dwarfstar for one ring, Chance Guards, gold charms + Gheed’s and weapon swap to Heart Carver ( + to Item Find and Grim Ward) and a Blade of Alibaba. If you’re doing mostly Trav runs you’ll want to consider swapping your Lacerator out for a Demon’s Arch / Warshrike and putting Reaper’s Toll on an A2 Merc for a source of Amp Damage, since Lacerator comes with 50% chance to fear baked into it, which causes the normal Council Members to run halfway across the damn map. An alternative is locking them down with a buffed Grim Ward for the slow. If you’re going this route, you would put only 1 point in Battle Orders and 9 points in Find Item (soft cap), 20 points in Find Potion, 1 point in Grim Ward, and your remaining 10 points from being level 99 into Increased Stamina for Frenzy Duration. Having a Torch, Annihilus charm and potentially other + to skills will pad out your skill levels and lessen the burden on your gear to provide resists. To combat having such a weak sauce Battle Orders, you put a Wisp Projector in your second to ring slot for level 2 Oak Sage which gives 35% bonus life which stacks with Battle Orders or you can use level 5 Heart of the Wolverine if you want 48% Damage and 53% Bonus Attack Rating instead.

yea ive got a pretty decked throw barb as my main char on ladder this season. Its really fun for my playstyle; eth weapons, big crafted gloves and belt; get 100% pierce through skills and warshrikes. Nice dual leech ring to keep your mana and health topped. I agree with the video. Hes a solid B character, fits a niche playstyle I was looking for.

I’ve been rocking one as well. I don’t have the eth warshrikes so I use wraith flight off hand. It smacks pvp and can solo everything so far. For play style, it’s totally fun.

You can run Wisdom in a Barb helm with some +skills. You get the pierce, cannot be frozen, and the mana leech. This opens up both your ring slots(since you just need life leech now) and your belt slot. Tgods, Whisp Projector, String of Ears, Dungos, MF rings, Carrion Wind, BK Ring, etc.

You should place those five into grim ward or find potion because of the combo there. Double throw to take out an enemy, grim ward the corpse to divide them and then frenzy from target to target. Don't even need your attacks to pierce if you do it that way

I've been playing it since early ladder in HC Ladder, at level 90 with a bit less gear than you have. Its a blast to play. One aspect you didn't really touch on is the fact its a great elite sniper, can just leap+howl+frenzy on top of elites and murder them just the same as a pit zerker. If you don't/cant invest in Enigma the reworked leaps are also very capable replacements for it, specially in areas with no walls like the Arcane Sanctuary or the River of Flame. Specially if like me you just use a Rogue with an Harmony bow for a Merc. It does feel a bit single-minded to play, it feels like its missing something in the kit, some kind of aoe clear. Honestly just adding Draven's Ultimate (From League of Legends) to the kit could be really fun lol but that's most likely out of reach. For the Ubers, they're the only thing i haven't tried since i play HC limiting how much i can experiment lol. I did kill both Dclone and the Mini-ubers though and like you i felt the speed is lacking. I highly suspect the reason is pretty simple. Attack Rating. Until that stat stays a thorn in melee's side nothing will ever beat Smiters as for whatever reason they're exempted from it. For mini-ubers i really tried to stack as much AR as i could using Metalgrid, AR charms, Dual Ravens and a level 38 Enchant provided by an A3 Mercenary, which put my AR over 20k and i still only had 76% chance to hit them. So yeah if 1/4th of my attacks miss its going to feel crappy. Its most likely what you experienced running regular ubers.

I have had great luck farming cows on p8 with throw barb. 1 point in grim ward and max find potion. Slows cows 70% and adds tons of damage on top of amp damage. With added bonus from find potion to find item great for finding items/runes.

I kitted a Throw Barb out with dual Gimmershreds, Fortitude, Laying of Hands, Gore Riders, and Atma's Scarab for Amplify Damage procs. Arreat's for my headgear and some leech/AR rare rings. Belt is String of Ears for DR and more life leech. Perfect gear? No. But definitely doable. Haven't found a Warshrike or Lacerator yet to test them out. The Gimmershreds were chosen for the absolutely absurd elemental damage on them, with Atma's offering Amp Damage for ramping up my physical output. The 5% chance seems low, but with the pierce from Throwing Mastery, it DOES proc more often than you think, especially when you toss in the 20% bonus to AR. For right now, I did dump a couple points into Axe Mastery for a little bit of AR bonus when I use Frenzy to get my Double Throw speed up. It works well enough, and I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement with my current gear, but I still don't fully love the build just yet.

I started the ladder with one. The problem is the lack of weapon options and no runewords for throw weapons. It's very difficult to solo through hell without trading for lacerators, you don't need them ethereal. You also you feel stuck without any real improvement once you get both weapons. They should add a bounce or other runewords. The best thing about throw barb is you only need 2 skills+1 synergy that you don't really need, so it opens a lot options for skills.

I prefer duel Lacerator’s over warshrike. Both axes benefit from axe mastery and it alleviates the need to wear deadly strike gear. Can easily get 60-65 % critical strike between throwing mastery/axe mastery opening up the neck boot and glove slot to different options. I’m using war travs/cats eye/steelrend’s(59%ed). Using pride act 2 merc and a harmony bow on switch for insane movement speed when I keep frenzy up.

I'm running enigma for mobility, cham'd gface for massive cb, fhr, etc, and war travs for the flat dmg and mf. I don't run ravenfrost bec I don't want cold dmg on anything so I can hork every body. Faith A1 merc for the fanata running eth shaft and andys. I'm enjoying him thoroughly; he can run trav and chaos no problem even in higher P counts, and he's amazing at being able to snipe bosses and tele in there to hork for a bonus drop.

They need to add some multishot or ricochet to throws. It is actually hard to play if you start off from scratch without decent weapons and gears (without trading). Maybe add sockets or runewords for throwing weapons too. Getting good throwing weapons are hard as F. I end up shopping for blue throwing weapons from vendors to proceed the game...

i turned one of my barbs into throwbarb, and i think it's amazing. it's ranged attacking, eliminating many of the flaws from melee barbs. although it's not as effective as frenzybarbs, but i think it's the most interesting barbs and enough effective to play against hell baal.

So far I'm in nightmare n having lots of fun, very satisfying mowing down lots of mobs, First time I ever crafter items for a character while leveling. Crafted some blood balanced axes/hurblats and finding and using rare weapons is quite fun. Not relying on rune words makes it more enjoyable. Once I reach hell will prob be a dif story xD

Great build, Im using almost the same on HC but I was using war traveler+skullder+guillame face wit halibaba on swap. Now I probably try yours. Im missing only pride :D its very fun and has solid dmg if I get enigma I think its gonna be a great mfer. I think dmg is not bad, with my gear I clear p3 alone chaos run easily and p5 with no problems but p6+ is a little harder but still can be done. I started playing him after reaching FoH 93 and it feels a little worse dmg BUT Im able to kill everything not only demons and undead. And im more tankier and definitly more funny :p Just dropped jah with him today haha. Thx for video!

It doesn't work for both weapons, weapon modifiers only apply for the weapon you swing when dual wielding. Its kind of stupid and a big reason why dual wielding sucks in this game most of the time.

Warshrike, 50% deadly strike = chance to to double damage, so 50% chance to do 396 damage, Vs. Gimmershreds, 195 phys dmg + 1381 elemental damage. Sure those numbers are all on the high end, but the multiple damage types mean you don't get stone walled on phys immunes. also all that elemental damage should more than offset the total damage you get from Warshrike, unless you're purely fighting non-phys immunes, and GS is getting bad damage rolls.

Imo I think warrshrikes are no longer necessary. Eth lacerator and an eth rare fools mod with over 500 Max damage is going to do an insane amount of damage when multiplied out vs what warshrikes has to offer. You'd need a1 faith merc to reach faster breakpoints.

Warshrike is such a trap weapon. The Pierce and Deadly Strike only apply to the Warshrike so you end up in a weird stat situation with Lacerator having just the throw mastery pierce and DS. Swapped from eth warshrike to crafted blood fools 319ED winged axe and saw massive improvement in clear speed for trav rune farming.

Which Barbarian specc would you recommend for a brand new start? I just reached hell and cant even get to Andariel without dying a dozen times. All this specc-overviews are not helping... i dont have an inventory full of charms, am not resistance-capped and my gear is... well... you know best what average items you get after completing nightmare in singleplayer without trading. Up until now i played frenzy, but im starting to miss every second attack and im dying to trash mobs... i know i need more attack rating, more resistances, better items in general... but how do i get them?? Farming Nightmare Baal for 7000 hours?

Go ww with polearms: obedience , silence and insight are dirt cheap . As a barb You don't do baal.. You stick to trav and hork for days.. You can use Lionheart for armor or duress as they are cheap and effective: farm countess... A Lot . You need runes , so You have to farm countess /trav or ir SP: lower kurast runs .

@@benjaminhutz2405 ww uses breakpoints to determine its attack speed , it only uses the IAs (increased attack speed ON the weapon) . Obedience/insight /silence may not reach the last WW breakpoints BUT , they offer múltiple goodies ;huge damage and súper ez to craft, they should allow You to grow until You can get into the GG runewords : Dual grief , grief beast (if PVP) , or EBOTDz if 2 handed.

This builds are awesome and all but you still kill 1 at a time. I just can’t ignore that a hammerdin or a sorc can run laps around you and complete content in a fraction of a sec. The day they take away teleport away it’ll be the day this game will be complete and you can play/clear shit as intended.

It’s got a lot more multi target potential than you’d think considering the high pierce chance via Throw Mastery + Razortail / Wisdom Runeword. It out performs most of the other Barb builds in that category imo. It’s obviously not as fast as say Holy Fire stacking builds, Lightning Fury, or most of Sorc - but there’s really no point in comparing 90% of builds to things like that when there’s such an obvious power imbalance.

Shits on everything else. Sad but true.

I beat hell with a throw barb just last night and so I can confirm you can do it with borderline awful gear lol. Ended at lvl 68, best thing he had was a Raven Frost, rockin a rare Hurlbat in one hand and some rare Flying Knives in the other. NOT recommended at this lvl/gear though, Baal took over an hour.

Lacerator is often times doing more harm than good, the chance to make mobs flee makes killing groups of 10 or less a chore as they run away at hypersonic speeds. It's good for boss killing but you're better off going with an Atma's with dual warshrikes, using the new runeword helm for pierce can be a good option if made in the right base. Another good option would be a tiara with frw and socketed with 3x 15/40s, definitely an expensive one but you could always just stick a 15 ias jewel in your arreats (or 2 of them in an IK helm if you want to go the MF route).

I mainly focus elites and champ packs with this build not killing any regular monsters. Harmony on switch to run three areas at Mach speeds. Never really had any issue with the monster flee stat.

What about the primary & the secondary weapon? How does that work? I was playing double-throw barb and the character panel displays only the bonuses that the Primary One gives!!! What about the secondary weapon bonuses? Are just not displayed or they don't work?

I have to disagree that this character performs better than a bowazon in "bad" gear. This character doesn't perform at ALL without either trading, or twinking. It's actually quite difficult to even farm the gear it needs as a SSF with this character. It basically needs two unique weapon drops, a unique ring, a unique or runeword helmet, and unqiue amulet/boots to even clear at a reasonable pace. Without that it clears slower than a naked sorc, and a lot slower than a Bowazon with just a harmony, a treachery, and a mana leach ring. If your idea of a build being decent is "I twinked it with my sorc" or "I bought a bunch of stuff on JSP" then sure... For SSF this build is a D at best. Arguably a C- for hardcore SSF.
