Part 1 certainly did not disappoint. What a massive project to undertake. Your parents were amazing to jump right in to help. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.

I went through a very similar experience in 2010. We took the whole house down to the studs. The only things that remain of the original house are the studs and a wood floor in one room. I moved the kitchen to the other side of the house and reshaped each room. It was fun and a pain in the ass. You are doing well.

Thank you! It's definitely an interesting mixture of the two, right? Love seeing it come together... loathe a lot of the in-between.

How can you make such hard work and labor seem so enjoyable! Thank you for the intermittent back stories. Your selfies made me smile - handsome even in adversity! How clever of you to do all the planning ahead of completing on the purchase - you found some good apps. Looking forward to the next episode

Thank you! It just wouldn't be me if I wasn't tossing backstory in, I love a good "how did you get here?" moment and figure I'll drag all of you along in my self-indulgence, lol.

Well thank you! I love it too, I just find as I am in the final 300-something days to hitting 40 that I need a lot more recoup time afterward, lol.

Perfect way to begin the day! I was an hour early since I am in Eastern time. I knew there would be at least a 2-parter on the kitchen. As always incredible design and blood/sweat/tears, but so worth it. Stunning functional kitchen. And your parents are, well, I dont need to tell you. Bravo my friend!!!!

My first house had that exact same kitchen flooring and color of stove. The previous owners had decorated the while room in rooster wallpaper. We changed the kitchen bit by bit in the 20 years we lived there. By the end we had installed a newer floating floor, painted the walls a soft white, and changed the oven out for a gas stainless steel version.
@restoring_sean10 күн бұрын
Ha! That flooring was such a "thing", it makes me wonder what this generation's flooring "thing" will be in hindsight. I assume grey laminate, lol.
@heathers882610 күн бұрын
@restoring_sean Oh probably. Our current house has grey laminate in the bathrooms. As we don't plan on staying here long I repainted each bathroom to compliment colors in the flooring, but to also give a different vibe to each room.

That's some honest to goodness elbow grease there for the kitchen Sean. 💪No pun intended haha. It really looks huge! I'm already seeing amazing things with the kitchen alone. Man, how your parents love you. That pissed look! 😊 Be more careful!

Older homes! I know what you mean. It is never let's fix A because A always leads to B which in turn leads to C and on and on it goes. So wonderful you had family close by to help you. I love your kitchen now. When you renovate the kitchen next time will it just be cosmetic or another demo and renovate?
@restoring_sean8 күн бұрын
It's NEVER as quick and easy as we think! And thank you! This next one is truly just cosmetic. You'll find out more in next week's episode, but the cabinets all need to be repainted because of my error, and I figured hey... pick a new color. But that color needs to work with the wall... which needs to work with the "standalone" cabinets... so A to B to C and then all of a sudden it's a remodel.

Yay!! I loved this. I have what's probably a dumb question, but at 18:55 where you're designing the kitchen, is that 2 sinks? Just curious why you'd have 2 sinks? Maybe it's a kitchen trend I'm unaware of. I'm so sorry you injured yourself with a crowbar! Owie 🤕!! Bless your heart. And bless your parents for helping out so much. I just can't imagine doing as much demolition as you did, I know it had to have been exhausting. Thank you for this video!!! We all love you!! 💜 William
@restoring_sean8 күн бұрын
Hahaha, it's NOT a trend, it was because the software didn't have a counter cook-top, so I used a sink in its place. And to put it lightly, it certainly was exhausting. Considering, especially, this was happening as the ENTIRE rest of the house was happening!
@wdgbirmingham28 күн бұрын
@restoring_sean Here I thought you had 2 sinks on purpose 😂 What a fancy kitchen, one sink for dishes and another for ... if you don't want to walk an extra 5 feet 😂 Thanks for explaining 🙂🙂🙂

What a great undertaking. What gave you the inspiration to become a designer?
@restoring_sean8 күн бұрын
It stems back to being a kid! I always loved rearranging my bedroom, on a semi-monthly basis, and liked working on other people's spaces. When I started working for Pottery Barn, that just fully "unlocked" the desire and I was off to the races. 13 years later, here I am!
@wdgbirmingham29 күн бұрын
How is you crow bar boo boo? I asked Google why one would have 2 sinks, it said for ease in prepping and for efficiency. Did you end up with 2 sinks or was that just when you were designing? 😘 William
@restoring_sean8 күн бұрын
Lol, I think I answered this one a minute ago, but it was just for a place holder in the design tool! That's the cooktop.
