I have watched numerous videos on the XL and, after having built my first PRUSA in 2017, and it is still working; however, these videos have given me 2nd thoughts about investing in the XL at this time.

Hey Benix, out of this world video! Sorry for the lengthy comment in advance. I was initially leaning toward the Prusa XL, thinking it would finally meet my needs, but after watching your video, I’m now unsure about whether it’s the right choice for my specific requirements. To give you some context, what I primarily need from a 3D printer isn’t necessarily speed, but precision. I often prototype intricate parts that must fit together with tight tolerances, so accuracy is key. I was initially drawn to the Prusa XL for its build volume, which I thought would be ideal, as my typical print heights range from 2” (50mm) to a maximum of 14” (356mm). While I mostly work with single-color prints, I’m also open to multi-color or multi-material options when needed, like the XL promises. However, the most critical aspect for me is achieving a smooth surface finish akin to SLA prints, but without the associated hassle of maintaining an SLA printer. I’ve heard that the Prusa XL’s slicer now includes the Arachne perimeter generator, which promises improved print quality, and that was something I found promising. Based on your extensive experience with various machines, I’d love to hear your thoughts on which printer would best meet these needs. Specifically, I’m looking for precision, ease of use, and the ability to deliver professional quality prototypes, without the maintenance demands of an SLA system. I trust your judgment and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance on what to consider next in my search. Should I keep waiting or should I take the plunge? Thanks again for all the valuable content you create, it’s been a huge help!

Why did you take it to the cliff bud… to push it if the edge ?😅

The first layer issue sounds like a nozzle wear. A uneven one tbh which is kinda usual on toolchangers. As you had this already after three months, did you print some sort on abressive filament with brass nozzles (even Matt PLA, PLA+, etc. do wear nozzles faster).

way to go buddy. love your enthusiasm.

You don't need to unscrew the tube socket thing. Push down releases the tube.

For 229 out of 365 days your XL has been actively printing? Holy crap!

6:09 isn’t there a way to adjust the z-offset?

Not that I'm aware of. It's supposed to be perfect layer calibration every time so that you don't have to worry about it.

@@thatguymakesthings Ahh so you can actually do this if you hold it the main button while printing the first layer. While this is cool I don't know if it would solve the problem as it changing consistency is the bigger issue. Granted I haven't tested this and won't be able to, but it is interesting.

cool filming backdrop, great XL review - a little disappointing on some of the XL issues, but I still love my Prusa minis!

Hi, I really like your videos, how and where you have your recordings and how you cut them! Thank you! My personal issue that I cannot ignore any longer is a VFA pattern that goes in perfect 2mm lines around my prints. Most noticably on straight edges, mostly in X direction. Maybe you can look into your parts and compare it to your Mini, which I also happen to have (no VFAs, perfectly reliably by now). After tinkering with the XL it's always fun to dust off the Mini and just start printing on the tiny built plate!
@Dragon3D4 ай бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate it! I won't be able to compare them as I don't have the XL with me and won't for a while, but I never noticed VFA patterns on my XL. If it's not a large batch or small enough the Mini is defeinitly still fun to use!

Dude, wash the buildplate with dishsoap and rinse all the soap off and dry with a clean papertowel for every print. Do not touch the clean buildplate print surface with your oily fingers. As long as the layer height and bed temperature is correct you should have no further problems.

If Prusa wasnt so arrogant and greedy, this would been the absolute GOAT of 3D printing. The mere ability to quickly multicolor print alone is a selling point. The ability to print PVA and have true 3D printing wouldv made this amazing by itself. But nooooo. It just HAD to cost $2.7k. Didnt even come with input shaping or anything you would expect.
@user-sf8du13 күн бұрын
While the price is high I think it's important to remember it's not as wild as it seems. 360mm x 360mm x 360mm for $2k(single print head) in a non Chinese brand is okay. Especially with a first generation product line, It's going to have an early adopters tax. My hope is the v2 is cheaper and more reliable, $1500 for the printer, $300 per extra print head would be sick.
